Biography

After a legendary football career at Miami, Pont became head football coach at Yale University in 1963, then moved to Indiana in 1965. He accomplished the seemingly impossible in 1967 when he led an Indiana sophomore team to a share of the Big Ten title and a trip to the Rose Bowl. For that feat, he was named Coach of the Year by both the Football Writers Association and the American Football Coaches Association.
