Cradle of Coaches Nomination
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
A person is eligible for recognition by the Miami University Athletics Department from the year 2001 and beyond as a distinguished honoree of the Miami University Cradle of Coaches if that person meets the following requirements: in order to be considered for recognition, a person must meet one of the criteria set forth in Section A and two of the criteria from Section B or meet one of the criteria set forth in Section A and the criteria in section C.
A. A person must meet at least one of the following criteria: • Earn an undergraduate or graduate degree at Miami University; or • Earned a minimum of three varsity letters in one sport as an athlete at Miami University; or, • Earned a minimum of two varsity letters in one sport as an athlete at Miami University and, in the era prior to freshman eligibility, earned “freshman numerals” or an equivalent freshman-level award; or, • Coached (head coach, full- or part-time assistant coach) a varsity sport at Miami University
B. A person must meet at least two of the following criteria: • Served a minimum of 15 years at the professional level as a full-time coach, scout, or team or league administrator; or, • Coached for a minimum of 15 years at the high school or collegiate level; or, • Received Coach of the Year honors at least three times (league, conference, state, region, or national); or, • Won at least three state championships; or • Won at least five conference or league championships; or, • Coached a minimum of 10 individual sport league or conference champions; or, • Coached a minimum of five individual sport state champions; or, • Coached team to a national championship; or • Coached a minimum of five individual sport national collegiate champions. • Coached a minimum of five individual sport champions in nation or world competition. • Selected as a coach for the United States Olympic Team and coach at a summer or winter Olympic Games.
C. A person must meet the following: • Coached, either as an assistant or a head coach, a mini- mum of 20 years with at least 10 of those years being a head coach.
NOMINATION CRITERIA:
Nominees must meet the Cradle of Coaches Association criteria for induction to be considered. All nominations must be submitted with a nomination form by March 1 of the induction year. An accompanying letter of nomination is recommended. Cradle of Coaches Association inductions take place every other year.
