9/28/2022 2:50:00 PM | Hockey
The Miami RedHawks get the program's 45th season underway this weekend with a home non-conference series against Ferris State University at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena. The RedHawks are looking to build on last year's 7-27-2 record, while Ferris State finished last year 11-24-1.
Both games will be available on NCHC.tv, with puck drop scheduled for 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 and 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2. Greg Waddell and Drew Davis will have the call, with Saturday's radio broadcast slated for WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.) and Sunday's radio broadcast on WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio). Tickets are on sale now.
The RedHawks and Bulldogs split a pair of games in Big Rapids to open last season, with Miami winning the season opener 7-4 and dropping the next day's game 4-3 in overtime. Miami leads the all-time series by a narrow 47-45-16 margin.
Â
The RedHawks return seven of their top 10 scorers from a year ago, highlighted by the top line of Matthew Barbolini (10-12-22), Red Savage (6-10-16), and PJ Fletcher (8-16-24). Ludvig Persson recorded an .894 save percentage in goal with a 3.93 GAA and 6-23-2 record a year ago while setting the program's single-season saves record.
