Miami Rolls at Rainy RedHawk Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio ââ'¬" The Miami University track and field team hosted its final home meet of the year on Saturday. The Red and White brought home a total of 14 wins across the meet despite challenging weather conditions.
The Red and White started the day strong with Zack McBride taking the win in the 5000m clocking in at 14:44.12. Right on his heels were teammates Matt Stewart and Stephen Biebelhausen, who took second and third in 14:45.21 and 14:46.49, respectively. Cody Riesterer (sixth; 14:55.74), Zac Thompson (12th; 15:11.81), Ryan Pitner (17th; 15:26.95), Patrick Santino (18th; 15:30.10) and Matt Dietrich (19th; 15:34) rounded out the RedHawk effort. In the women's race, Sarah Starrett was second in 17:38.98 while Jackie Mullins and Taylor Wood finished 13th and 19th in 18:16.20 and 18:54.33 respectively. Starrett's time dropped 21 seconds from her lifetime best.
At 1500m, Joe Stewart finished third in 3:53.70. Jake Brumfield took 10th in 3:57.02 and the trio of Kane Dixon (3:58.63), Ben Metzger (3:59.89) and Jordan Knapp (4:00.08) placed 12th, 13th and 14th. For the Miami women, Kelsey Kohls took second in 4:42.42. Fellow RedHawk Taylor Broermann was seventh in 4:50.02.
The 800m saw two Miami wins with Joey Comisford claiming the men's race in 1:55.03 and Alexis Szivan pacing the women's race in 2:13.56. The 'Hawks also took second in both contests as Andrew Dusing was runner-up for the men in 1:55.72 and Megan Beaver took second for the women in 2:14.31. For the men, Johnathan Fee was seventh in 1:59.03, Jordan Knapp was 16th in 2:02.61, Kane Dixon was 17th in 2:02.64 and Jake Brumfield was 22nd in 2:05.47. On the women's side, Lauren Hoover was ninth in 2:20.55.
In the 3000m steeplechase, the Matt Bromley clocked in at 9:20.53 for second in the men's race and Jordan Rice took sixth in 9:36.25. Bromley's performance knocked 21 seconds off his personal best from earlier this season. For the women, Maria Weisgerber (11:24.75), Haley Sandvik (11:30.49) and Kirsten Petrosky (11:32.28) took the 2-3-4 spots.
The 'Hawks also picked up a pair of wins in the 400m hurdles with Vinnie Minosky (53.74) winning the men's race and Kathie Wollney (1:01.17) picking up the win for the women. For the men, Aaron Mursean was second in 55.64. In the women's race Morgan Rice took third in 1:04.20 and Alexus Jimson-Miller was fifth in 1:06.18. Jimson-Miller took on the 100m hurdles for the RedHawks as well taking third in 15 seconds flat.
In relay action, Miami picked up a win in the men's 4x100m in 42.17 and the women's squad clocked in a 47.97 for second. Miami took the top spot in both 4x400m races with the men's A squad of Adam Bodrick, Vinnie Minosky, Jake Owens and Aaron Mursean posting a season-best time of 3:18.07. In the women's 4x400m, the top Miami squad of Alexus Jimson Miller, Kathie Wollney, Kalliopi Kountouri and Megan Beaver clocked in at 3:50.42 to take home the win.
Jake Owens picked up the win for the Red and White in the men's 400m with a time of 49.15. Zane Shreve and Joe Komlanc were 11th and 12th in 53.38 and 53.41, respectively. Aryelle Player took fourth in the women's 400m clocking in at 1:00.44. Zuri Davis and Alexa Ross were sixth and seventh in 1:01.52 and 1:02.50.
Adam Bodrick brought home the win in the men's 200m with a time of 22.80. Avery Taylor was fourth in 23.05 and Dereck Roberts rounded out the Miami contingent in 23.65 for 12th. Briah Owens was third in the women's 200m, clocking in at 26.43. Alexa Ross placed 10th on a time of 27.76 and Lauren Schattinger was 14th in 28.24.
In the 100m, Kenny Glenn was second with a time of 11.20. Fellow RedHawks Avery Taylor (11.43; 5th), Dereck Roberts (11.47; 6th), Grant Cole (11.60; 8th) and Zane Shreve (12.39; 13th) also took on the shortest race of the day for the 'Hawks. Briah Owens led the way for the women in 12.71 for third. Lauren Schattinger was 17th in 13.74.
In the throwing ring, Zubin Coleman marked 179-8 to take second in the men's hammer. On the women's side, Martha Szekely posted the top mark for the home team marking 179-3 for third overall. Ashley Frahm marked 163-11 for fourth and Kati Walter rounded out the squad in sixth with a mark of 154-1.
The RedHawks went 1-2 in the shot put ring with Arionna Darling marking 48-7.5 for the win and Ashley Frahm taking second on a mark of 44-2. Katie Walter took fourth with a mark of 41-8. Andrew Vollet marked 46-11.75 to finish fifth in the men's contest.
The Red and White went 1-2 in the long jump with Kenny Glenn getting the win with a mark of 22-8 and Grant Cole marking 22-0.25 for second. Zane Shreve was 13th with a leap of 17-11.5. Caitlyn Redmon marked 16-2.25 for seventh in the women's contest.
In the high jump, Jess Baker and Molly Balcer took first and second in the women's high jump. Baker cleared 5-6 and Balcer cleared 5-2.5. Peter Stefanski finished second on attempts, clearing 6-6.75 for the men.
In the pole vault, Matt Owens cleared 15-9 to win the event on attempts. Fellow RedHawk Jake Hensh cleared 14-9 for fifth. On the women's side, Emily Fletchall finished sixth clearing 11-2.25. The pole vault was contested in the Dauch Indoor Sports Center due to the rainy conditions.
The women's javelin saw the Red and White take the top-2 places with Danielle Collier winning the day with a mark of 136-9. Aaryn Grey was second with a mark of 129-3.
In the triple jump Carsen Cash finished fourth with a jump of 37-11.5.
The RedHawks will return to action next weekend at the Kentucky Relays in Lexington.
