HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clayton Burke made his fifth start of the year for Miami and immediately sent down all three batters he faced.
- Marcus Dierks started Miami's offensive campaign with a leadoff single in the first. Harrison doubled down the right field line to score Miami's first run of the day.
- Burke had another one-two-three inning in the second that included two strikeouts.
- Bowling Green turned a leadoff double into a run with a sac fly in the third to tie the game at 1-1. Burke threw two straight strikeouts to record the final two outs of the inning.
- Harrison smashed a home run to center field in the third, scoring Ryan Novak, who had walked. This marked his fifth long ball of the season.
- The Falcons pulled back within one run in the top of the fourth, scoring after a single and an error.
- Miami answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame. After two HBPs, Dierks hit a sacrifice bunt to put both runners in scoring position. Novak hit a sac fly to score one run and Harrison earned another RBI with a single up the middle.
- Two home runs added four to the scoreboard for Bowling Green in the sixth, making it a 6-5 Falcon lead.
- Cruz singled to lead off in the bottom of the sixth and advanced twice, setting up Novak to crush a double to left center and tie the game at 6-6. An intentional walk for Evan Appelwick and a walk by Ignacio Gonzalez loaded the bases. Raether was hit by a pitch and Mason Breidenbach walked to force an 8-6 lead.
- Austin Berggren had a one-two-three inning in the top of the seventh, notching three straight groundouts to hold the two-run lead.
- The RedHawks added an insurance run in the seventh. Cruz singled and advanced twice before scoring on another sac fly by Novak.
- Miami padded their lead with three runs in the eighth. Harrison came up with his fourth hit of the day, a double, and an error later advanced pinch runner Drew Phillips to third and sent Ignacio Gonzalez to first. Phillips scored on another error to make it 10-6.
- Still with no outs, Raether drilled a two-run home run to left-center, making it a 12-6 ballgame for Miami. Two outs later, Cruz hit his second homer of the season to make it 13-6.
- Bowling Green added one in the ninth but Berggren put the exclamation point on a 13-7 victory with three swinging strikeouts.
