RedHawks Down Flyers 13-7

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami defeated the Dayton Flyers Wednesday in a 13-7 contest after a seven-run second inning. Four different RedHawks had multiple hits during the game. Miami improves to 13-5 with the win while Dayton moves to 13-7 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dayton turned two hits and a wild pitch into a run in the top of the second to break the 0-0 tie, taking a 1-1 lead.
- Mason Breidenbach led off the second inning with a walk. Matthew Buffington followed with a base hit, sliding into second to make it a double. A ball-four wild pitch walked Diego Cruz and scored Breidenbach to make it 1-1 and force a pitching change.
- Still with no outs, Cruz stole second. Marcus Dierks walked on a seven-pitch at bat to load the bases. Ryan Novak put up a sacrifice fly to give the RedHawks the lead at 2-1. Evan Appelwick walked to load the bases again and an error scored two runs. A single by Ignacio Gonzalez added two more to make it 6-1.
- Dominic Krupinski continued Miami's offensive push in the second with a ground-rule double to right-center. Breidenbach walked to load the bases yet another time and a passed ball promptly scored Miami's seventh run.
- With one aboard, Buffington doubled to left center to put two runners in scoring position in the fourth. Cruz came up with a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 9-1.
- The Flyers capitalized on three hits in the fifth, scoring four more runs.
- Harrison and Gonzalez put up back-to-back singles in the bottom of the fifth. Krupinski doubled to score them both and make it an 11-5 game.
- Miami added two more runs in the sixth. Cruz and Dierks each walked and stole a bag and Cruz advanced to score on an error. An RBI groundout scored Dierks to make it 13-5.
- Dayton cut the deficit to six runs, scoring twice in the top of the seventh.
- The RedHawks held the Flyers scoreless for the final two innings, securing a 13-7 victory.

- Harrison went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
- Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
- Krupinski went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
