TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Miami University cross country team ran in its final meet of the year Friday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Indiana State.
The women's squad took 11th out of the 32 teams competing in the women's 6K race. Junior
Carly Davis was the first RedHawk to cross the line, as her 21:22 put her in 40th overall. Redshirt senior
Alesha Vovk was close behind with a 21:26. The rest of the Miami scorers in the women's race were
Maegan Murphy,
Claire Linn, and
Emma Mashburn.
The men's team, recently crowned Mid-American Conference champions, took ninth in the men's 10K. The RedHawk men ran a tight pack that saw all seven runners finish in the top 100. Junior
Christopher Torpy put a cap on a stellar 2018 campaign that saw him earn All-MAC First Team honors and be named MAC Runner of the Week twice with a 43rd-place finish, and redshirt senior
Matt Bromley was right behind in 45th.
David Coffey,
Maxwell Lehnhardt, and
Ryan Pitner were the other scoring runners for Miami.
With these results, the RedHawks will not be competing at the NCAA National Championships on Nov. 17. The team will thus turn their attention to the 2018-19 indoor track and field season; be sure to stay tuned to MiamiRedHawks.com for the full release of that schedule.
