
RedHawks With Solid Pre-Nationals Performance

Miami also dominates at Wilmington in two-meet weekend.
MADISON, Wisc. – Competing against one of the strongest field in the country, the Miami University cross country team put up a strong performance at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals Saturday.
The RedHawk women ran in the Cardinal heat, finishing 17th of 35 teams. Redshirt senior Alesha Vovk continued her impressive string of results this season, setting a new personal record of 21:02.4. Vovk has been the Miami women's highest finisher in each event she has competed in. Carly Davis, Maegan Murphy, Emma Bryant, and McKenna Fry rounded out the rest of the Miami scorers. Bryant and Murphy also had PRs of their own.
On the men's side, the RedHawks took a 14th place finish in the White heat. Junior Christopher Torpy took 40th place, setting a personal record with a 24:29.8 time. David Coffey, Sean Torpy, Ryan Pitner, and Matt Bromley were the other scorers, with Pitner earning a personal record as well.
Miami also had five women and four men competing in the Gray race. Claire Linn and Regan Smith set PRs in the women's race, while Bradley Davis headlined the men's race with a 16th place finish.
Miami also sent runners to compete at Wilmington's Jenna Strong Fall Classic on Friday. The RedHawk runners put on a dominating performance, with the men's team grabbing first place (out of 36) while the women's squad grabbed fourth. Juniors Taylor Broermann and Seth Conroy led the way in the women's and men's races respectively. Several unattached runners also found success, with Hannah Santoni and Charlie Harders each finishing in the top ten of their races.

The RedHawks will have a week off before heading to the Mid-American Conference Championships in Toledo on Oct. 27.
