RedHawks Take on Day Two at Meyo Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Miami University track and field team closed out a packed weekend of competition on Saturday, turning in some of its fastest times of the season at the Meyo Invitational and the Akron Invite.
In action at Notre Dame, Kalliopi Kountouri took to the line for the RedHawks in the 400m posting a time of 57.19 to take 41st overall.
In the 800m, Megan Beaver clocked in at 2:13.74 to finish 39th. Fellow RedHawks Alexis Szivan (2:15.97) and McKenna Kiple (2:21.40) took 58th and 68th, respectively.
In the legendary Meyo Mile, Alesha Vovk led the way for the RedHawks, posting a new personal best clocking in at 4:59.78 finishing 50th overall. Kelsey Kohls finished in 5:01.48 to take 56th in her collegiate mile debut. Alex Cameron rounded out the Miami entries coming in at 5:09.78 for 73rd place. In the men's race, Andrew Dusing clocked in at 4:11.38 taking 34th.
At 3000m, Laura Bess posted a performance of 10:02.87 to finish 47th and give her the top time for the Red and White in 2016. For the men, Zach McBride clocked in at 8:31.07 to take 46th.
In the 60m hurdles semifinals, Alexus Jimson-Miller finished 12th on the day with a time of 8.72.
In the shot put Arionna Darling posted a mark of 51-4.25 to finish third and post the best mark for the RedHawks this season. Ashley Frahm was 13th with a throw of 48-1.25 and Katie Walter finished 29th with a mark of 40-8.75. Andrew Vollet finished 16th in the men's shot put, marking 53-3. In the men's high jump, Peter Stefanski cleared 6-7.5 for 11th overall.
In 4x400m action, the squad of Morgan Rice, Megan Beaver, Kalliopi Kountouri and Kathie Wollney teamed up to post a time of 3:49.50 for 17th, their best time of the season.
In action at the Akron Invitational, pole vaulter Jake Hensh cleared 15-07 to tie for second. Matt Owens was fourth clearing 15-1.
The Red and White will return to action next Friday at the Hoosier Hills meet at the University of Indiana.
