BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The RedHawks traveled to Indiana University to compete in the Billy Hayes Invite Friday. Mia Boule vaulted a school record of 4.20m in the pole vault event. Ben Riegel threw the third-furthest hammer ever for a RedHawk with a mark of 60.00m. Ella Garvin jumped the third-highest in high jump in Miami program history. Blake Presley threw the sixth-furthest all time Miami hammer throw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
● In javelin, Clark Helgason was second with 53.39m and CJ Johnson Jr. took fourth with a mark of 47.90m.
● Mia Boule vaulted a school record of 4.20m, taking second place in the meet. Emily Eterovich took fourth with a height of 3.89m.
● Allie Melchiorre and Maggie Dougherty swept first and second in javelin with marks of 42.72m and 42.69m, respectively.
● Kate Hallie threw 50.44m for sixth place in hammer throw, Sharron Kagan threw 48.81m for eighth place, Kristen Berwanger threw 45.92m for 10th place and Sophia Ili threw 38.12m for 11th place.
● Riegel and Presley took fourth and fifth place in hammer with throws of 60.00m and 59.90m, respectively. Gabe Asbury placed seventh with 56.66m and Owen Billeter placed 11th with 53.26m. Riegel now ranks third on Miami's all-time list in hammer, while Presley is sixth.
● In high jump, Mac Burley tied for third with a height of 1.93m and Nate Hollingsworth took fifth with the same mark.
● In shot put, Hallie threw 14.17m for fourth place. Ava Luczak, Ili and Caroline Kagy took ninth, 10th and 11th places with throws of 12.31m, 11.87m and 11.03m.
● In discus, Reilly Worthington and Billeter took third and fourth places with throws of 47.42m and 46.58m, respectively. Richard Obioha placed 11th for 37.11m.
● Kylie Adams (5.50m) took fifth and Maya Reed (5.39) took seventh in long jump.
● Kirk Knecht was third in men's long jump with a bound of 6.82m.
● Garvin was the high jump champion with a jump of 1.78m, tying the third-highest all-time jump for a RedHawk.
● In men's shot, Riegel threw the furthest of the RedHawks with a mark of 17.22m for third place and Presley took fourth with a throw of 17.21. Worthington and David Lorek finished in sixth and eighth places with throws of 16.54m and 16.38m.
● Hallie was the discus champion with a mark of 49.01m. Berwanger threw 42.89m for fifth and Kagy threw 42.17m for seventh.
● The RedHawks took fifth, sixth and eighth in the 100m hurdles. Madison Berger finished with a time of 15.18, Garvin with a time of 15.78 and Adams with a time of 16.33.
● In the 110m hurdles, Broderick Brittle took seventh with a time of 15.04.
● The women's 4x100m relay team of Camryn Dunn, Riley Betz, Maya Reed and Lauren Jessup-Aiken won with a time of 46.36 seconds.
● The team of Mitchell Wiemuth, Rondale Carridine, Remy Schulz and Jayson Harrison took fifth with a time of 41.70 seconds in the 4x100m relay.
● In the 1500m, Monica Guijarro took third with a time of 4:33.88, Linda Conchetto took sixth with a time of 4:38.40, Grace Streek finished in seventh with a time of 4:39.55 and Cara Naas finished with a time of 4:35.17 for 11th.
● Josh Razor finished with a time of 3:52.69 for seventh and Ben Fahnestock ran a 3:52.95 for ninth in the men's 1500m.
● Adrian Stechschulte and Luke Mussard ran the 800m, crossing the line with times of 1:52.97 and 1:53.75, respectively.
● Keena Sanders was the first RedHawk to cross the finish line in the 400 in 56.86 seconds. She was followed by Rachel Smith in 56.96 seconds, Olivia Cebalo in 57.62 seconds, Sophia Scavuzzo in 59.92 seconds and Addison Smith in 1:01.35.
● Micah Schuster ran the 400 and placed sixth with a time of 48.59 seconds.
● Betz, Dunn and Jessup-Aiken took fourth, fifth and sixth in the 100m, with Betz and Dunn tying down to the hundredth of a second with times of 11.991 and 11.997 seconds. Jessup-Aiken crossed the finish line in 12.24, and Katelyn Pratt finished the 100m with a time of 12.82.
● In the men's 100m, Carridine ran a 10.70, placing fifth. Harrison had a time of 10.88, Schulz had a time of 11.11 and Wiemuth had a time of 11.33.
● In the women's 800 invite, Avery Emerson ran the third fastest time in school history of 2:06.16 and Eve Traficanti ran a time of 2:09.65.
● In the women's 400m hurdles, Mae Reed took fourth finishing in 1:02.55, Berger took eighth with 1:03.98 and Sydney Harmon took 11th with a time of 1:13.23.
● Josh Mikulka finished the 400m hurdles in seventh place, posting a time of 54.73.
● In the 200m, Betz (24.64) took third, Dunn (24.78) took fifth and Pratt (26.54) took 11th.
● Nora Zubillaga competed in the 1500m invite, finishing in ninth place with a time of 4:32.24.
● In the men's 1500m invite, Tom Heal finished the race in 3.46.49 for seventh place.
UP NEXT
The RedHawks will travel to Muncie, Ind. next weekend to compete in the MAC Championships at Ball State University from May 14-16.
