SCOUTING REPORT: Earned his second varsity letter in 2009 as the kickoff specialist ... he[apos]s also the back-up placekicker to Trevor Cook ... initially joined the RedHawk football team in the spring of `08 ... a member of Miami[apos]s 'Straight A Team' for four consecutive semesters, he compiled a nearly perfect 3.98 grade point average as an undergraduate.
2009: Appearing in all 12 games, his 37 kickoffs averaged nearly 60 yards per boot ... five were touchbacks ... he also recorded three solo tackles in games against Kent State, Cincinnati and Northern Illinois.
2008: Appeared in seven games altogether, making his first appearance vs. Temple ... kicked off 20 times, averaging 61.3 yards ... earned John Scherz Outstanding Walk-on Award at 2008 team banquet ... had one solo tackle.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered three years in football at Whetstone as a punter/placekicker ... earned all-district special mention honors ... also lettered four years each in baseball, soccer and basketball ... coached by Todd Boyd.
PERSONAL: Born May 12, 1988 ... son of Thomas and Laura Philip ... his older brother, Ben, is currently a PhD student at Miami ... enrolled in Miami[apos]s master[apos]s program, Seth[apos]s major is accountancy.
