Baseball
Last Week: Miami (25-15, 11-7 MAC) went 2-2 in four games this past week. The slate began on the road at Butler on Wednesday. The RedHawks found themselves up 3-1 late but the Bulldogs rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to force extras, ultimately topping MU 4-3 thanks to a walk-off single in the 11th (Recap). The Red & White were home for the weekend to host rival Ohio. The Bobcats opened with a win on Friday, edging Miami 4-3 after being down 3-1 (Recap). The RedHawks rallied and answered back with a 6-1 win on Saturday. Adrian Texidor led the offensive effort by going 3-for-3 with three runs batted in while Zach Spears went seven innings on the mound and surrendered just one run. He also struck out eight (Recap). The finale on Sunday featured another dominant effort on the hill from a Miami pitcher. Senior Gus Graham recorded his second-straight complete game and allowed just two runs on three hits. He retired 20 consecutive batters at one point and set the side down in order on seven occasions (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks are home to begin the week, hosting Cincinnati on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The rivals last met in the Joe Nuxhall Classic championship game just a few weeks ago, a 9-8 Miami win. The team then heads to Western Michigan for the weekend for a three-game set that begins Friday at 3 p.m.
Softball
Last Week: The RedHawks (22-22, 9-11 MAC) won the series at Akron two games to one. On Friday, Akron won by a 7-3 margin. Morgan Lott, Lizzie Bollinger and Haeley Tran all had two-hit games (Recap). On Saturday, Miami dominated the doubleheader, winning 16-5 in six innings in game one and 11-3 in five innings in game two. A seven-run first inning in the first game propelled the RedHawks. In the first game, Megan Wurts led the offense, going 3-for-4 (including a home run) with four RBI's. Johniann Wahl picked up three RBI's. In the second game, Miami had a nine-run second inning that saw 13 batters to the plate. Kaitlyn Gliha and Wahl each had three RBI's while seven different players registered two hits (Recap). This Week: Miami closes the regular season with a three-game series at Buffalo. The two teams will play one game on Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Golf
Last Week: Miami finished third at the MAC Championship with a team score of 57-over par. Cam Solomon was the best individual for the RedHawks, earning All-Tournament honors by tying for fifth at 11-over par (Recap). This Week: Miami is idle, however Patrick Flavin will learn if he has earned a selection to the NCAA Regional on the selection show at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday on the Golf Channel.
Track & Field
Last Week: The RedHawks spread out to three separate meets, hosting the RedHawk Invitational while sending competitors to the Penn and Gina Relays. Over at Penn, seven Miami runners set PRs with three top-10 finishes on Thursday night (Recap). Friday saw competition conclude at the Gina Relays as David Coffey and Bradley Davis posted top-10 finishes in the 5000m while a handful of relay teams competed at Penn (Recap). The Red & White hosted the RedHawk Invitational on Saturday while finishing up at Penn as several more competitors PR'd, including Aaron Muresan jumping into second in the MAC rankings in the 400m hurdles (Recap). This Week: Miami stays in the region with a trip over to Indiana for the Billy Hayes Invitational.
