Golf Finishes Third at MAC Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The Miami University golf team finished third at the 2018 MAC Championships on Sunday. The Red and White had the best round of the day, shooting a fourth round score of seven-over par 295 to finish at 57-over par for the tournament. Kent State won the MAC title at 44-over par, while Ball State came in second at 47-over par.
Sophomore Cam Solomon had his best round of the tournament, shooting an impressive three-under par 69. It was the only round in the 60s by any golfer this weekend. Solomon finished the tournament tied for fifth at 11-over par after moving up 11 spots in the standings to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Freshman Charlie Nikitas earned some hardware at the end of the day as he was named MAC Freshman of the Year, as well as a spot on the All-MAC Second Team. To conclude the MAC Tournament on Sunday, he shot a round of 77 to finish tied for 10th at 15-over par.
Senior Patrick Flavin also won some major honors, taking home the Earl Yestingsmeier Sportsman of the Year, along with earning a spot on All-MAC First-Team. He is the fourth Miami golfer in school history to earn four All-MAC selections. He shot a 77 on Sunday and finished 13th individually at 17-over par.
Redshirt junior Brian Ohr had an even par round of 72 and finished right behind Flavin, tied for 14th at 18-over par. For his hard work this season, he joined Nikitas with a spot on the All-MAC Second Team.
Freshman Jack Herceg shot a seven-over par round of 79 to finish off his first year as a RedHawk. Herceg finished 28th in the standings at 28-over par.
