Miami Splits Friday Slate Against Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Miami University softball team split its series against the University of Buffalo on Friday afternoon, winning the first game 10-3 before falling 9-5 in the second.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
- Kicking off scoring, 2-0, in the top of the first, Erin Pinter singled to right center, allowing Mckenna Campbell and Katy Olive to score.
- Buffalo quickly responded in the bottom of the same inning, bringing the score to 2-1, scoring off of a double.
- Miami extended its lead to 6-1 in the second inning. Bailey Manos doubled to right center, allowing Evey Dieudonne to score. Mia Estrello then singled and brought Manos in to score. Olive then hit a two-run home run, allowing Estrello to score with her.
- Buffalo tried to tighten the gap to 6-3 in the third inning, scoring off a triple and off a fielder's choice.
- Hitting her first home run of the season and bringing the score to 8-3 in the fourth, Estrello hit a home run with Manos on base, to bring in two more runs for the RedHawks.
- Ending off the game in the seventh, Estrello singled to center field, Ella Carter and Leila Mathis scored, making the final score 10-3.
NOTES
- Presley Hosick pitched a complete game (7.0 IP), allowing only nine hits, three earned runs and three walks while striking out five.
- Bailey Manos went 2-for-3 at the plate, had two runs and was credited with one RBI.
- Mia Estrello went 3-for-5 at the plate, had her first home run of the season, and was credited with five RBI.
- Katy Olive hit one home run and was credited with two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
- Getting on the board in the first inning, the RedHawks led 2-0 as Estrello popped up to right field, allowing Manos to score. Olive followed with her second home run of the day, bringing in the RedHawks' second run.
- In the same inning, Buffalo then singled, driving in another run and making it 2-1.
- In the top of the third, Danitza Hernandez singled and advanced on an error, allowing Estrello to score and bringing the score to 4-1. Campbell then singled, driving in Hernandez for an unearned run.
- The Bulls responded in the bottom of the third, taking the lead 8-4. They scored two runs off a single, followed by a three-run home run, and capped the inning with two more runs on a double.
- Extending their advantage in the sixth, the Bulls added another run, making it 9-4. A single brought in a run, unearned.
- Bringing the final score to 9-5, Hernandez singled and allowed Estrello to score.
NOTES
- Danitza Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate, had one run and was credited with one RBI.
- Katy Olive hit her 12th home run of the season and her second of the day.
- Angelina Ricciardi pitched 4.0 innings and allowed only three earned runs.
