RedHawks Split Doubleheader Versus Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Miami University softball team (34-15, 15-8 MAC) split its doubleheader against Central Michigan University (23-19, 14-8 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. Miami won the first game 8-1 and lost the second 7-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)
- Miami kicked off scoring in the first with a two-RBI single from Ella Carter.
- The RedHawks continued their lead to 5-0 in the top of the third with an RBI double from Mckenna Campbell. Katy Olive then hit an RBI single and Carter doubled to allow Olive to score.
- Central Michigan responded in the bottom of the third, making the score 5-1, with an RBI single.
- Miami added to their lead in the fourth to 6-1 with another RBI single from Bailey Manos.
- The Red and White finished it out in the seventh with another two-RBI single from Carter, making the final score 8-1.
NOTES
- Danitza Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs.
- Ella Carter went 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBI.
- Presley Hosick pitched a complete game (7.0IP), allowing only six hits and one earned run, striking out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)
- The Chippewas started the scoring in the first, claiming an early 3-0 lead.
- Miami responded in the top of the second, making it 3-1, with an RBI single from Evey Dieudonne.
- CMU added to their lead in the bottom of the same inning with an RBI single and an RBI off of a groundout, making the score 5-1.
- In the third, Olive hit an RBI sacrifice fly to make the score 5-2.
- CMU scored again in the fourth with an RBI single, 6-2.
- The Red and White tightened the gap in the fifth with an RBI single from Campbell and another RBI sacrifice fly from Olive, making it 6-4.
- CMU added one more run with a forced run off a walk, making the score 7-4.
- A single from Carter brought home a pair of RedHawks to make it 7-6, but failed to tie up the contest.
NOTES
- Mia Estrello went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs.
- Mckenna Campbell went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI.
- Evey Dieudonne went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI.
