Indoor MAC Champion, Mia Boule wins pole vault in the outdoor season opener

OXFORD, OHIO- The RedHawks track and field team kicked off the 2026 outdoor season by hosting the Blizzard Buster at Miami's George L. Ryder Track. Kate Hallie threw the second-best discus throw in Miami's program history (50.29m) for the win. Mia Boule added her name to the top-10 program pole vault list with a vault of 4.00m (tied for third-best). Emily Eterovich did the same, with a vault of 3.85m (fourth-best). The RedHawk men and women were both victorious in the team event, the women scored 210.5 points and the men scored 215.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED-
- Starting off the men's field events, Ben Riegel threw 56.51m to secure second in the hammer throw. His teammates, Gabe Asbury (53.90m), Blake Presley (51.88m), Owen Billeter (51.70m) and Reilly Worthington (49.10m) finished fourth through seventh place, respectively. David Lorek (45.73m) placed ninth and Richard Obioha (41.33m) took 11th.
- Quinn Kroneker took fifth in pole vault with a vault of 4.55m.
- The RedHawks swept First through Fourth in shot put. Riegel won with a mark of 16.12m, Lorek placed second with a mark of 15.46m, Presley took third with a mark of 15.44m and Worthington took fourth with a mark of 15.41m.
- Obioha finished in second in discus with a throw of 48.95m. His teammates, Billeter (48.47m), Riegel (44.71m), Lorek (43.94m), Worthington (43.58m) and Asbury (40.13m) finished in fourth, fifth, sixth and tenth, respectively.
- Mac Burley and Nate Hollingsworth both scored for the RedHawks in high jump. Burley jumped 1.98m for third place and Hollingsworth jumped 1.92m for sixth place.
- Matthew Howard and Clark Helgason swept first and second place in javelin with throws of 61.33m and 53.63m, respectively. CJ Johnson placed sixth with a mark of 46.27m and Billeter placed 11th with a mark of 39.52m.
- In women's field action, Hallie threw 50.84m for third place, Sharron Kagan threw 47.33m for fourth, Kristen Berwanger threw 43.57m for ninth, Sophia Ili threw 42.65m for tenth and Caroline Kagy threw 31.66m for 19th.
- Hallie threw 50.29m in discus for the win and the second-best throw in Miami's program history. Berwanger (40.25m), Kagy (36.24m) and Kagan (33.44m) placed eighth, 12th and 15th, respectively.
- Kylie Adams won the long jump event with a mark of 5.51m. Maya Reed also scored for Miami, placing sixth with a jump of 5.28m. Eleanor Truckel placed 11th with a jump of 4.90m.
- The RedHawks swept the podium in pole vault. Boule was the champion at 4.00m, Eterovich finished in second at 3.85m and Addison Crichley took third place at 3.70m.
- Ella Garvin was the high jump champion with a jump of 1.75 meters, the fifth-best jump in program history.
- The RedHawk women swept first and second in javelin, Allie Melchiorre placed first, with a throw of 41.79m and Maggie Dougherty placed second with a throw of 41.41m.
- In the 4x100-meter relay, the RedHawks "A" team of Rondale Carridine, Joey Valeski, Matthew Shuler, and Broderick Brittle won with a time of 42.24. The "B" team took fourth, finishing in 43.22 with a team of Mitchell Wiemuth, R'Monee Brown, Remington Schulz and Kirk Knecht.
- Josh Razor and Luke Mussard took fourth and fifth place in the 1500m, respectively, with times of 4:01.23 and 4:01.83. Adrian Stechschulte took eighth with 4:04.51, Evan Jarold took 11th with 4:06.66, Nick Dunn took 16th with 4:08.79, Ben Fahnestock took 22nd with 4:10.21 and Weston Naville took 30th with 4:12.15.
- In the 110m hurdles, Jaxson Tober placed fourth with a time of 14.55, Brittle took eighth with a time of 15.07 and Joshua Mikulka took ninth with a time of 15.53.
- Shuler and Carridine swept first and second place in the 100m dash with times of 10.54 and 10.70, respectively. Schulz (10.86) took 11th, Valeski (10.87) took 12th, Jayson Harrison (11.08) took 20th, Knecht (11.18) took 24th, Wiemuth (11.21) took 25th and Brown (11.29) took 27th.
- Dominic Jackson won the 800m with a time of 1:51.94. Stechschulte also picked up points for the RedHawks, placing fifth with a time of 1:53.79. Fahnestock and Razor placed 16th and 17th with times of 2:01.22 and 2:01.64, respectively.
- Tober and Mikulka placed second and third in the 400 hurdles, running 55.43 and 56.77, respectively.
- In the 200 dash, Shuler took second place with a 21.78, Carridine took 12th with a 22.62, Brown took 17th with a 23.09 and Wiemuth took 21st with a 23.16.
- The 4x400 team of Tober, Valeski, Mikulka and Micah Schuster took second with a time of 3:32.96.
- The RedHawks' "A" team of Riley Betz, Lauren Jessup-Aiken, Camryn Dunn and Kate Pratt won the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.60. The Miami "B" team of Adams, Reed, Garvin and Eterovich took fourth with a time of 49.90.
- Nora Zubillaga won the 1500m race in 4:34.85. Avery Emerson (4:40.32) and Eve Traficanti (4:42.55) took third and fourth, respectively. Grace Streek took ninth with 4:55.17 and Emma Berres took 13th with 5:09.63.
- Garvin (15.46), Madison Berger (15.71) and Adams (16.09) took tenth, 11th and 13th, respectively, in the 100m hurdles.
- In the 400m dash, Sophia Scavuzzo picked up 6 points for the RedHawks, placing third with a time of 1:00.31.
- Betz and Dunn picked up points for the RedHawks in the 100m dash, Betz taking second (11.78) and Dunn taking fourth (11.96) for a total of 13 points. Jessup-Aiken (12.18), Pratt (12.73) and Reed (12.91) placed 10th, 21st and 24th, respectively.
- In the 3K, Cara Razavi took fourth with a time of 10:19.93
- The Miami women swept the podium, Emerson (2:15.69) placing third, Traficanti (2:15.07) placing second, and Zubillaga (2:14.79) with the win. Their teammates, Streek (2:24.70) and Berres (2:31.06), also competed, placing sixth and tenth, respectively.
- Garvin took fourth in the 400 hurdles with 1:04.78, Berger took eighth with 1:09.88 and Sydney Harmon took ninth with 1:13.16.
- In the 200m dash, Betz took third with a time of 24.73, Jessup-Aiken took seventh with a time of 25.53 and Pratt took 22nd with a time of 26.87.
- The team of Dunn, Sanders, Jessup-Aiken and Olivia Cebalo won the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:01.27.
