RedHawks Start MAC Championships Strong

MUNCIE, Ind.- The Mid-American Conference kicked off its outdoor championships today and the RedHawks started the championship weekend strong. Mia Boule earned the title of MAC outdoor pole vault champion and set a new school record. Matthew Howard and Maggie Dougherty were both the runners-up in javelin.
HOW IT HAPPENED-
● Richard Obioha was fourth in discus, throwing 53.04m and earning the RedHawks five points. Owen Billeter was eighth, picking up a point for Miami with a mark of 47.93m. Reilly Worthington threw a mark of 46.87m.
● In javelin, Howard took silver with a throw of 62.70m for eight points and Clark Helgason threw 54.18m for seventh place and two points for the RedHawks.
● Boule placed first in pole vault for the MAC champion title with a new school record vault of 4.22m.
● Dougherty finished in second place in javelin with a mark of 44.72m and Allie Melchiorre finished in fifth, picking up four more points for the RedHawks with a throw of 44.06m.
● In the 1500m prelims, Nora Zubillaga qualified for the finals with a time of 4:29.50.
● Camryn Dunn qualified for finals in the 200m with a run of 24.08m.
● Charles Namiot and Patrick Wills both scored points for the RedHawks in the 10K, Namiot took fifth, finishing in 30:06.15, and Wills took eighth, finishing in 31:08.69.
● In the women's 10K, Ava Nuttall finished sixth, scoring five points with a time of 34:10.18.

The RedHawks will continue to compete at the MAC Championships in Muncie on Friday, May 15, with the meet set to wrap up on Saturday, May 16.
