
RedHawks Fall in Series Finale to Bobcats 7-6

ATHENS, Ohio – On Saturday afternoon the Miami University softball team fell to Ohio University 7-6. The RedHawks move to 26-22 (15-7 Mid-American Conference) and Ohio moves to 31-4 (14-4 MAC).

UP NEXT: On Wednesday, April 23, the RedHawks face Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. at 5 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the bottom of the first, the Bobcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of RBI singles.
- A two-run home run from the Bobcats in the bottom of the fourth doubled their advantage to 4-0.
- In that same inning, another run crossed for Ohio on a wild pitch to up their lead to 5-0.
- The RedHawks got on the board in the top of the fifth on a two-RBI double from Kaylee Oh. Shelby Kunkel and Kari Krueger scored to cut the deficit to 5-2.
- Krueger layed down a RBI bunt in the top of the sixth to allow Jenna Golembiewski to cross home and make it a 5-3 game.
- Still in that inning, Chloe Parks doubled down the right field line and pushed Krueger and Erin Pinter across the plate to tie the game 5-5.
- Mckenna Campbell followed that up with a RBI single that scored Parks to give the RedHawks the 6-5 lead.
- The Bobcats tied it again at 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Bobcats took the 7-6 win when an error allowed the winning run to score.
NOTES:
- Oh went 3-for-3 at the plate. Campbell went 3-for-4.
- Ella Carter went 2-for-4 at the plate.
- Lèa Chevrier pitched 3.0 innings, striking out three and allowing just two runs.
- Madilyn Reeves went 3.1 innings in the circle. She struck out three.
