HOW IT HAPPENED
- 11:17 1st (Miami 1-0) | After killing off two first-period penalties, Miami capitalized on its newfound momentum and managed the game's first goal. Kocha Delic got the puck from Ryder Thompson and flipped it forward for Morozov to start a 2-on-2 break with Matteo Giampa. Morozov kept the puck himself and, although goaltender Hampton Slukynsky got a piece of it at first, Morozov used his strength to stick with the play and force a shot in to make it 1-0.
- 9:03 2nd (WMU 1-1) | The visitors had changes to stretch their lead, but weren't able to find the back of the net on a five-minute power play in the second period. The Broncos then equalized on a power-play goal near the game's midpoint, as Liam Valente took advantage of WMU's sustained possession in its offensive zone and eventually found the back of the net after assists from Ty Henricks and Grant Slukynsky.
- 10:25 2nd (WMU 2-1) | Western Michigan grabbed the lead just over a minute later. Colby Woogk skated in to track down a rebound after a long shot by Theo Wallberg was deflected wide and then sent a return pass to Wallberg for the goal. Sam Huck picked up the second assist on the play.
- 11:43 2nd (WMU 3-1) | 78 seconds later, the Broncos doubled their margin. Zach Nehring sent a pass out to Zack Sharp and got it right back near the goalpost to finish past Drobac, whose stick had been knocked away on a previous shot attempt. Grant Slukynsky had the other assist for the hosts.
- 5:37 3rd (WMU 4-1) | Zach Bookman added a power-play goal early in the third period for WMU, firing a shot from the blue line and in after Owen Michaels won a faceoff to William Whitelaw.
- 7:59 3rd (WMU 5-1) | The Broncos made it 5-1 on a lunging goal by Sam Huck, as he and Ryan Kusler met at the puck to cap off a 3-on-2 break. Kusler produced the primary assist, while Garrett Szydlowski had the second helper.
- 9:34 3rd (Miami 5-2) | Miami finally broke through on the power play in the final stanza, as Vladislav Lukashevich fired a deep shot that ricocheted off Doug Grimes in front and bounced to Morozov for a rebound one-timer.
NOTES
- Delic extended his season-opening point streak to nine games, the second-longest active streak in the country (Stiven Sardarian, Michigan Tech).
- Morozov produced his third multi-point game of the season and matched his season high in goals (Oct. 10 at RPI) with two.
- Grimes now has a seven-game point streak, the sixth-longest active streak in the nation.
- Lukashevich's assist was his team-leading eighth of the year.
