LAKE CHARLES, La. — The Miami University baseball team dropped a 13-5 decision at McNeese Thursday night. The RedHawks' season record slips to 20-35, while the home team improves to 33-20 with the series finale set for Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

McNeese took an early lead with a run in the third and broke the game open with five in the fourth. The Cowboys added a run in the fifth to make it 7-0.
Miami got on the board in the top of the sixth inning. Ryland Zaborowski homered to center with one out to cut the margin to 7-1. After a two-out single by Dillon Baker, Evan Appelwick doubled to right center. Zach MacDonald followed with a base hit to left to score both players and pull the visitors within 7-3.
The Cowboys responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame to extend their lead to 10-3.
Blake Buzzeo homered to lead off the seventh, trimming the deficit to 10-4. However, McNeese answered with a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to make it 13-4.
The RedHawks got one run back in the ninth, as Cooper Weiss singled with two outs and came around to score on an RBI double to right center by Zaborowski.

NOTES

Zaborowski finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and hit his 20th homer of the year.
Buzzeo hit the first home run of his career.
MacDonald now has six RBIs through the first two games of the series.
Weiss produced two hits and recorded his 15th multi-hit game of the season.
