RedHawks Drop to Davidson, 79-61

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Miami University men's basketball team lost in non-conference action at Davidson Saturday by a score of 79-61. Ryan Mabrey had 15 points, and Darweshi Hunter added 14 points for the RedHawks (4-5). Reed Bailey and Grant Huffman led the Wildcats (7-3) with 19 points each.

How it Happened:
- Davidson started the game by taking a 6-0 lead. Eian Elmer put the RedHawks on the scoreboard at 6-3, thanks to a three-point shot. Miami kept it a one-possession game (9-6) after Bradley Dean knocked down a shot from behind the three-point line with 13:42 left in the first. The Wildcats followed this up by going on a 10-0 run to stretch their lead to 19-6. Bryce Bultman ended the Davidson run after catching a pass in the lane from Reece Potter for a layup.
- The Wildcats led 23-8 with 7:54 left in the first half before Evan Ipsaro and Mabrey put in a pair of shots from downtown to trail 25-14. The Wildcats responded by going on a 9-0 run to claim a 34-14 advantage with under five minutes in the first. Mabrey closed out the half by hitting a jump shot and three as the clock expired to make it a 40-22 ball game.
- Davidson outscored Miami 10-1 to make it 50-23 at the start of the second half. Potter put in back-to-back shots to trail 55-33 with 13:24 to play. Davidson took its largest lead of the game at 63-35. The Red and White responded by going on an 11-0 run following a pair of threes from Hunter that sparked the offense.
- Mekhi Cooper put in a couple of free throws as 5:39 remained on the game clock to make the score 69-53, but the RedHawks would get no closer.
- Mabrey recorded a season-high 15 points.
- Miami shot 14-16 from the free-throw line.
- The RedHawks produced 34 bench points.
