The Golden Flashes have won the last four, including a 78-65 win in Oxford on Feb. 1 in the lone meeting between the teams this season. The RedHawks' last win against Kent State was in Oxford on Jan. 14, 2020, 77-74. Miami holds a 5-4 edge against KSU when playing in the MAC Tournament, posting a 71-64 win in the last MAC Tourney meeting between the teams in 2014 in a first-round game in Oxford. The last time the teams met in Cleveland was in the semifinals of the 2008 tournament with KSU inching out a 49-47 win.

GRANT IN ELITE COMPANY: For the first time since 1999 when Wally Szczerbiak set the single-season scoring record with 775 points, a RedHawk has cracked Miami's single-season top-10 scoring list. Junior guard Dae Dae Grant's 546 points this season rank 10th, and he joins the likes of Szczerbiak, Ron Harper and Wayne Embry on the list. Coincidentally, Grant moved past Miami Assistant to the Head Coach Damon Frierson on the list, who scored 544 points in 1998 and is Miami's fifth all-time leading scorer. Grant also has moved into eighth on Miami's single-season 3-point list with 69 treys. Additionally, his .850 free throw percentage this season would currently rank seventh on Miami's single-season chart.

GRANT SCORES 1,000TH CAREER POINT: Junior guard Dae Dae Grant became the 39th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, achieving the feat on Feb. 12 against Bowling Green. He joins senior guard Mekhi Lairy and senior forward Dalonte Brown as the three active players to reach the milestone. Lairy scored his 1,000th career point on his final bucket during overtime in a thrilling 85-82 win against Northern Illinois on Jan. 22 earlier this season. Brown reached the milestone on Jan. 12, 2021 at Ohio and currently ranks sixth on Miami's all-time scoring list.

STAND AND DELIVER: One of the most efficient free throw shooters in the conference, senior guard Mekhi Lairy ranks second in the MAC in free-throw percentage in all games (.909) and led the MAC in conference-only games (.925). His .909 free throw percentage would rank first on Miami's single season list, while his .845 career free-throw percentage also would rank first. Lairy hit 29 consecutive free throws from Nov. 27 through Jan. 29. He has been perfect from the free-throw line in 17 of the 24 games where he has had a free-throw attempt.

BROWN BREAKS BOTH GAMES STARTED AND PLAYED CAREER RECORDS: Breaking Ron Harper's record of 118 for career starts with a start at Indiana State on Dec. 4 and Geovonie McKnight's record for career games played of 126 on Dec. 14, senior forward Dalonte Brown is now the Miami career record holder in both categories. Brown's 137 career starts and 144 career games played are the new Miami records.

CHART CLIMBER: Senior forward Dalonte Brown is climbing several Miami career top-10 lists and continues to climb the points scored list. Here is where he stands entering Miami's next game:
  • Starts: 137 (1st, set record Dec. 4)
  • Games Played: 144 (1st, set record Dec. 14)
  • 3-Point FG: 194 (5th, 4 away from No. 4)

  • Minutes Played: 3,504 (10th, 5 from No. 9)
THE THIRD DEGREE: Senior forward Dalonte Brown earned his undergraduate degree in Family Studies during Miami's commencement ceremonies on Friday, December 10. He joins senior guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands, who earned his bachelor's degree in Spring 2021, and senior forward Precious Ayah, who earned his bachelor's degree in Spring 2020 and a master's degree in Spring 2021, as the RedHawks who currently own Miami University degrees.

  • Sophomore forward Kamari Williams has seen action in nearly all of the RedHawks' games this season but has upped his production as of late. Over Miami's last five games, Williams averaged 11.8 ppg, second-most by a RedHawk, 5.0 rpg and shot 55.6 percent from the floor and 52.6 percent from 3-point range. He committed just one turnover during that stretch with a 6.0 assist/turnover ratio. Williams posted a double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds against Buffalo on Jan. 22 and had a career-high 21-point performance in a key win at Central Michigan last Tuesday.

  • Senior forward Precious Ayah amassed a career-high six blocked shots against Toledo on Jan. 11, tripling his previous career-high and tying for third on Miami's all-time, single-game chart. Ayah paced Miami in a nine-block performance as a team, which tied for sixth on the RedHawks' team single-game chart.
  • Senior forward Dalonte Brown has committed to play on the Ohio All-Star Team as part of The College Basketball All-Star Game & Celebrity Extravaganza will take place April 20-24, 2022. The Ohio All-Stars will play dynamic players from HBCU colleges across the U.S. in the All-Star Game. This is a five-day celebration of educational, multicultural and entertainment festivities that complement the college all-star game and a celebrity game featuring nationally-renowned entertainers and local personalities.
