OMAHA, Neb. — No. 9/7 Omaha scored two power-play goals and added a penalty shot Saturday night, jumping out to a four-goal lead after two periods en route to a 4-1 win over Miami. The RedHawks (2-5-1, 1-1 NCHC) and Mavericks (8-2-0, 1-1 NCHC) split the two-game series to open conference play.

Matthew Barbolini scored for the second consecutive night for Miami, tallying a power-play goal in the third period to break up Isaiah Saville's shutout bid.

Logan Neaton coming on to make 10 saves in the third period for MU.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 14:38 1st (Omaha 1-0) | Nolan Sullivan screened Miami goaltender Ludvig Persson and tipped home a deep shot from Nate Knoepke to open the scoring. Nolan Krenzen also picked up an assist on the play for UNO.
- 15:38 1st (Omaha 2-0) | A minute later, and only seven seconds into their first power play of the game, the Mavericks struck again. Taylor Ward scored his ninth power play goal of the year for UNO, redirecting a one-timer in close off assists from Brandon Scanlin and Brannon McManus.
- 8:10 2nd (Omaha 3-0) | After an extended battle for the puck in the corner on UNO's next power play, Ward slid it all the way across the ice to Scanlin, who juked in from the right side and dropped the puck off for Ty Mueller to finish.
- 19:28 2nd (Omaha 4-0) | Tyler Weiss scored his third goal of the weekend for Omaha, converting a penalty shot to extend the Mavs' lead to 4-0 before the second period ended.
- 5:51 3rd (Miami 4-1) | Matthew Barbolini got Miami on the board with a highlight-reel play, going between his legs in front of Saville to score a beautiful goal off assists from Matt Barry and Chase Gresock.
GAME NOTES:
- Forward Scott Corbett made his season debut and freshman defenseman Alex Murray made his Miami debut.
- Miami blocked 11 shots in the game; UNO outshot the RedHawks 40-19.
- Chase Gresock was credited with a game-high eight shots on goal.
- Miami trailed entering the third period for the first time all season.
- After an early-season stretch of 15 straight power plays without a goal, Miami has now scored on the man advantage in three consecutive games.
- The RedHawks have now played seven of their first eight games away from Oxford, while Omaha finished a 10-game homestand to open the year.
