Grimes Named Miami Hockey Captain

OXFORD, Ohio— Miami Hockey head coach Anthony Noreen announced the program's leadership group for the 2026-27 season today. Senior forward Doug Grimes will serve as the RedHawks' captain, with sophomores Ethan Hay and Bradley Walker as the alternates.
"The strength of our group is our team leadership," said Noreen. "We feel like 'Dougie' embodies what we want Miami Hockey to be. He's a guy that can help us accomplish our mission and take care of his teammates, along with Ethan and Bradley as well as our leadership committee."
"It means the world to be named captain," Grimes said today. "When I came here, I knew that I wanted to be a leader and be a guy that could set the tone and for other guys to look up to.
"I think I've done a great job of being that so far, and I'm just looking forward to leading this group and being a guy that can set the tone for our group every night."
Miami opens the 2026-27 season at Northern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 2.
