OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track as it returns home to take on Western Michigan on Tuesday. Tip time is at 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner.
HOME VS. AWAY IN MAC PLAY: The RedHawks have been a tough team for opponents to face at home in Mid-American Conference play so far this season. Miami is averaging 72.0 points per game in MAC home games compared to 68.8 points per game in MAC away games. The 'Hawks are shooting .450 at home compared to .413 on the road. Isaiah Coleman-Lands has had his best games at Millett Hall during conference play. He is averaging 11.5 points per contest and is 12-for-22 (54.5 percent) from behind the arc.
EFFICIENT GAME FROM JOVIC: Redshirt junior guard
Milos Jovic had a really efficient game against Northern Illinois on Saturday. He finished with 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting, including 2-for-4 from the three-point line. It was his third double-digit scoring effort of the season.
HONORING CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE: At halftime of Tuesday's game, all student-athletes that had a 3.0 grade point average or better in the fall semester will be honored on the court. 4.0 GPA students will be individually recognized. In addition, all students with a 3.0 GPA or better are invited to show their fall grades to the marketing table during the game. They will receive a prize and will be entered into the grand prize drawing for a Google Home.
ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN: The Broncos are 9-12 overall and 2-6 in the MAC. They have dropped their last three in a row, including an 85-78 defeat to Central Michigan in their last game on Saturday. Western Michigan has two averaging in double figures, led by junior guard Michael Flowers. He ranks fourth in the MAC at 18.0 points per game. Another key player is redshirt junior forward Brandon Johnson. He averages 14.5 points per game.
THE SERIES WITH WESTERN MICHIGAN: Miami leads the all-time series with Western Michigan, 82-49. The Broncos have won the past five meetings although each of the last four games have been decided by five points or less. That includes a dramatic, 84-79, overtime victory for WMU in the teams' last meeting on Feb. 16, 2019 in Kalamazoo. After leading the majority of the first half, the RedHawks fell behind by as many as seven points in the second half before rallying. Miami eventually took a five-point lead with 1:29 to go before the Broncos scored the final five to send the game into overtime tied at 68. Tied at 74 in the extra session with 2:07 to go, a 7-2 run by the Broncos proved to be the difference.
