OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's basketball team hosts Bowling Green Saturday at 3:30 p.m. It is the middle game of a tripleheader with women's basketball and hockey. The contest will air live on ESPN3. An audio broadcast will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner.

HONORING DARRELL HEDRIC: Saturday's game has been designated Darrell Hedric Day, as Miami honors the Hall-of-Famer for his nearly 60-year association with the Red and White. After earning three letters on the men's basketball team and graduating in 1955, he served as a graduate assistant and assistant coach for 12 seasons before taking over as the head men's basketball coach in 1970. Hedric went on to coach the Red and White for 14 seasons. He led them to 216 wins, which ranks second in school history. He then went on to become an Associate Athletic Director at Miami under Richard Shrider and R.C. Johnson. Hedric served as Interim Athletic Director for nearly a year after Johnson's departure in 1994, and to this day still assists the department with special projects as Associate Athletic Director Emeritus.

BUILDING MOMENTUM: Miami is looking to build momentum after a tremendous effort in Thursday's 76-57 win over Central Michigan. The RedHawks held the high-scoring Chippewa offense to 32.8 percent shooting for the game, the best defensive performance in any Mid-American Conference game this season.

ABOUT BOWLING GREEN: The Falcons are 21-7 overall and lead the Mid-American Conference with a 12-3 record. They have become experts at winning tight games as 10 of their 12 league wins have been by six points or less. An exception to that would be their last contest, a 78-60 victory over Akron on Tuesday that gave them sole possession of first place in the MAC. Bowling Green is led by redshirt junior guard Justin Turner. He averages 18.8 points per game. Another key player is senior guard Dylan Frye. He averages 13.7 points per contest.

THE SERIES WITH THE FALCONS: Miami leads the all-time series with Bowling Green, 85-58. The Falcons won a 78-76 thriller on Jan. 7 in the teams' first meeting earlier this season in Bowling Green. The RedHawks caught fire early on, scoring 42 points in the first 13 and a half minutes of the game to build a 42-28 advantage. Miami could not sustain that offensive pace as the Falcons were eventually able to take the lead with eight minutes to go and ultimately come out on top. Junior forward Dalonte Brown led the  'Hawks with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds.

UP NEXT: The final week of the regular season begins next Tuesday as the RedHawks make the long trip to Buffalo for a 7 p.m. tip.  The game will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Van Wagner. Miami returns home for the regular season finale and the second Battle of the Bricks this year against Ohio on Friday, March 6. Tip time is at 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN3.
