MAC HALFWAY POINT: While bye dates and weather postponements have affected the Mid-American Conference, the majority of the teams have reached the halfway point of their league schedule. Miami currently is in eighth place in the MAC standings and would host a first round game if the tournament began today. Bowling Green leads the league with a 7-1 record, while Buffalo is second at 7-2 and Toledo is third at 6-3. Kent State and Akron are in a tie for fourth place at 5-3, while Central Michigan and Northern Illinois are tied for sixth at 5-4, a game in front of the RedHawks. Eastern Michigan and Ohio are tied for ninth at 3-6, Ball State is 11th at 2-7 and Western Michigan is still looking for its first MAC win at 0-8.

ADAWAY GETS IT DONE: With shots not falling, Miami used a great defensive effort to knock off Eastern Michigan in its last game on Saturday. Key to that victory was sophomore guard Jalen Adaway. He scored 15 points on 7-for-14 shooting and brought home seven rebounds. Defensively he set a new career-high with three blocks and also had a steal in 31 minutes of action.

ABOUT KENT STATE: The Golden Flashes are 16-5 overall and 5-3 in the MAC. Like Miami, they have won four of their past five games. That included an 83-80 overtime victory at Ball State in their last action on Saturday. Kent State has four players averaging in double figures led by senior guard Jaylin Walker. He averages a MAC leading 22.9 points per game. Another key player is senior guard Jalen Avery. He averages 12.3 points per contest.

THE SERIES WITH GOLDEN FLASHES: The RedHawks hold a 91-52 lead in the all-time series with the Golden Flashes. The teams split both of their meetings last season, with each team winning at home. On Jan. 9, 2018 in Oxford, Miami jumped to  a 29-point first half advantage, then held on for an 80-69 victory. Nike Sibande scored 17 points, while Darrian Ringo had 16 points and seven assists in the win. On Feb. 27, 2018 in Kent, neither team led by more than seven points the entire contest as they found themselves tied at 75 after regulation. The Golden Flashes then used an early run in the overtime session to pull away for a 90-83 win. Dalonte Brown led five RedHawks in double-figures with 19 points, while Ringo recorded 11 assists.

UP AHEAD: The RedHawks return home to host Ohio for the first Battle for the Bricks game this Saturday. Tip time is 2 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast of the game will be available on the RedHawk IMG Sports Network Tunein App. In addition it is Wayne Embry Day. The Miami and Naismith Hall-of-Famer will be in attendance as the 'Hawks honor all of his accomplishments in several ceremonies.
