BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Miami University men's basketball team concludes its two-game road trip with a contest at Bowling Green on Tuesday. Tip time is 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast of the game will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Learfield IMG College Tunein App.
TOURNAMENT POSITIONING: After a tough loss to Akron in its last game on Saturday, Miami now finds itself in eighth place in the MAC Standings at 6-8, which is the final spot that would host a first round MAC Tournament game on March 11. Akron and Eastern Michigan are right in front of the RedHawks at 7-7, but Miami currently holds the tiebreaker over each of them. Ball State and Northern Illinois are right behind the 'Hawks in a tie for ninth at 5-9. MU has the tiebreaker on the Cardinals, but not on the Huskies.
BIG OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING PERFORMANCE: Miami brought in 15 offensive rebounds against the Zips on Saturday, which tied the Feb. 2 game at Eastern Michigan for most offensive rebounds in a conference game. Senior forward
Aleks Abrams had six offensive rebounds out of his team-high 10 for the game. The RedHawks' season high for offensive rebounds this year is 18, set against South Carolina State on Dec. 20.
ABOUT BOWLING GREEN: The Falcons are 19-8 overall and are the surprise of the MAC this season, currently in second with an 11-3 record. They had a three-game winning streak broken on Friday when they fell to Ohio in overtime, 92-87. Bowling Green has been a strong offensive team, averaging 79.2 points per game this season. Key to that is redshirt sophomore guard Justin Turner. He averages 18.9 points per game. Another important player is senior forward Demajeo Wiggins. He averages a double-double with 12.9 points and a MAC-leading 11.3 rebounds per game.
THE SERIES WITH FALCONS: The RedHawks hold an 84-57 lead in the all-time series with the Falcons. With a fantastic defensive effort, Miami handed Bowling Green its first conference loss of the season, 67-53, in their first meeting on Jan. 26 in Oxford. Miami held BGSU to only 36.5 percent (19-for-52) for the game. After hitting 10 three-pointers, the Falcons were only able to make nine 2-point buckets the entire contest. Offensively, sophomore guard
Nike Sibande led the way for the RedHawks with 25 points.
UP AHEAD: For the first time since 2001, a ranked opponent will visit Millett Hall as No. 25 Buffalo comes to town Friday. This is a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network that will tip at 8 p.m. An audio broadcast of the game will be available on the Miami Sports Network from Learfield IMG College Tunein App.
