ONE MIAMI WEEKEND: To help show their gratitude and deep appreciation for the commitment, dedication and exceptional service of Miami University's faculty and staff, and to bring together all campuses to celebrate our being "One Miami," President Greg and Dr. Renate Crawford have invited the Miami community to One Miami Weekend January 25-26, 2019. Faculty, staff and their families receive free admission and free parking to this weekend's doubleheader and also free admission to one of the two hockey games. Last year over 10,000 fans attended at least one of the One Miami Weekend events.
RINGO AMONG NATION'S STEALS LEADERS: After grabbing another five steals in the RedHawks' win over Ball State on Tuesday, senior guard
Darrian Ringo now ranks 11th in the nation with 64 total steals. His 2.58 steals per game average ranks 12th.
ABOUT BOWLING GREEN: The Falcons are 14-5 overall and are the surprise of the MAC this season, currently leading the league with a 6-0 record. They have won their past 10 games in a row. A big factor in Bowling Green's success has been its rebounding advantage over its opponents. The Falcons are currently +10.2 in rebounding margin, which ties for the fifth best total in the nation. Key to that is senior forward Demajeo Wiggins. He averages a double-double with 13.1 points and a MAC-leading 11.8 rebounds per game. BGSU's top scorer is redshirt sophomore guard Justin Turner. He averages 19.3 points per game.
THE SERIES WITH FALCONS: The RedHawks hold an 83-57 lead in the all-time series with the Falcons. The teams split their two meetings last season with each winning on the road. On Jan. 2, 2018 in Bowling Green, Miami came away with a 77-72 victory thanks to a monster game from
Dalonte Brown in which he had 16 points and 17 rebounds. On Jan. 16, 2018 in Oxford, the Falcons pulled away in the second half for an 81-70 win.
Nike Sibande had 20 points, while
Jalen Adaway scored 17 in that one.
UP AHEAD: The RedHawks remain at home as they welcome Toledo to Millett Hall Tuesday. Tip time is 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast of the game will be available on the RedHawk IMG Sports Network Tunein App. The Kings Firecrackers jump rope team will be in attendance to perform at halftime.
