RedHawks will take part in IU relays Friday-Saturday.
OXFORD, Ohio - Following a strong showing at last week's Gladstein Invitational, the Miami University track and field team will make a return trip to Indiana University for the IU Relays this Friday and Saturday. Events are slated to get underway at Gladstein Fieldhouse at around 5 p.m. Friday evening and will continue Saturday morning before concluding in the early afternoon.Â
The RedHawks were led by some great performances from sprinters at the Gladstein Invitational. Junior Olivia Bechtel continued her string of great performances, winning the 200m and grabbing second in the 400m while setting personal records in both. She was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that took third place. Mikaylah Woods, Rachel Kotchman, and Katie Vitou were among the other Miami women to grab top five slots in their respective events. For the men, senior Aaron Muresan had a great showing in both the 60m hurdles and 60m dash, taking first place in the hurdles and third in the sprint. Kenny Glenn finished just ahead of him in second place in the 60m dash while also taking a top-three place in the long jump.
Elsewhere on the track, a trio of women's runners in Emma Mashburn, Claire Linn, and McKenna Fry all set PRs in the 3000m, as did Ivan Dye over in the men's 400m. The men's 200m saw Luke Finnegan and Jake Owens grab first and second respectively. Mikaylah Woods also set a personal record as she took fourth in the long jump.
The IU relays will run many of the same events that the 'Hawks competed in over the two days of the Gladstein, but will also add the heptathlon and pentathlon in addition to distance medley relays. The full schedule for the two days is linked above.
