The `Hawks opened the weekend with a 4-2 win behind a strong performance on the mound from Nick Ernst, who went six innings strong with just one run allowed and six strikeouts. The Sun Devils used three home runs to help them rebound in the nightcap in a 7-3 victory (Saturday Recap). Sunday was a reversal of Saturday as ASU took the first game, 11-1, in seven innings. Miami answered in the finale, putting up an eight spot in inning two before ultimately capturing a 16-8 win and a series split (Sunday Recap). This Week: The RedHawks return to action on Friday, Feb. 23 versus Western Michigan in Buies Creek, N.C.
Men's Basketball
Last Week: Miami (13-14 overall, 6-8 MAC) made two big comebacks from big second half deficits only to fall just short in both contests last week. After a tough offensive first half, a furious rally led by redshirt junior guard Jake Wright nearly completed a 17-point comeback, but a last second steal left the RedHawks were one-point short as they fell to Eastern Michigan, 58-57, Tuesday evening. (Recap) For the second consecutive game the Miami found itself down by double digits in the second half before making a furious comeback. This time the RedHawks were able to force overtime. Miami took a four point lead in the extra session, but Ohio was able to answer with an 11-2 finish to take a 92-87 victory on Saturday. (Recap) This Week: The second to last week of the regular season begins on Tuesday as the RedHawks host Buffalo at 7 p.m. Miami then hits the road to Akron on Saturday with a tip time of 2 p.m. Both games will air live on ESPN3.
Hockey
Last Week: Miami (10-17-3, 5-13-2-0 NCHC) went to No. 11/12 Minnesota Duluth and came away with a pair of setbacks. The RedHawks were held to 16 shots on goal en route to a 4-0 loss in Friday's opener (Recap). Saturday saw MU at one point outshoot UMD 20-2 over a 25 minute span starting at the onset of the second period, but none of its 34 shots found the net as it suffered another shutout loss, this by a 3-0 score (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks wrap up their home schedule by hosting North Dakota at Steve `Coach' Cady Arena on Friday night (7:35 p.m.) Saturday's (7:05 p.m.) home finale doubles as Senior Night as they'll honor Louie Belpedio, Scott Dornbrock and Conor Lemirande prior to opening faceoff.
Golf
Last Week: The Miami golf team opened its spring season the same way it concluded its fall with a tournament championship. This time the RedHawks won the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play. On Monday, they opened it up with a 5-1 victory over Loyola in the morning and a 4-2 win over Ball State in the afternoon (Recap). Miami earned the championship on Tuesday after finishing in a 3-3 tie with Toledo. The `Hawks won their matches in fewer holes which gave them the tiebreaker victory. (Recap) Senior Patrick Flavin and redshirt junior Brian Ohr each went 3-0 for Miami and earned a share of the MAC Men's Golfer of the Week award. This Week: The RedHawks are idle this week. They are next in action March 3-4 when they travel to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate.
Tennis

Miami's doubles teams would get them started both days, with the tandem of Nelli Ponomareva and Melati Devi going 2-0. On the singles side, the RedHawks were powered against Marshall by victories from junior Emily Struble and freshmen Priyana Kalita and Lena Babunski (Recap). All three would win again Sunday in the win against Murray State and were joined by Ponomareva and Milana Lysova, also posting singles victories (Recap). This Week: The `Hawks head to Tennessee where they will take on East Tennessee State Friday and Western Kentucky on Saturday.
Track & Field
Last Week: The RedHawks split their last weekend before the MAC Indoor Championships at Ohio State and Notre Dame. After the rest of the squad tallied five medal-worthy finishes at Ohio State on Friday, the South Bend squad tacked on five more to wrap up the weekend. The team's young field contingent took a big step in development at OSU, as four of the five medaling performances came in field events. Freshman Elise Walker and junior Molly Balcer led the way in Columbus, finishing second and third in the high jump, respectively (Recap). At ND, Sarah Bruns led the charge with a PR 9.06 in the 60m hurdles that landed her in the finals. She placed third there before going on to help the powerful 4x4 team take second behind a near-Miami record 3:43.62. On the men's side, two milers -- Sean Torpy and Christopher Torpy -- ran sub-4:10 miles. Sean's 4:06.29 is the second-fastest time in the MAC this season (Recap).
