Hockey Slips to No. 20 in USCHO Poll

OXFORD, Ohio - For the fourth straight week, Miami Hockey is ranked in the USCHO.com Poll, which was released Monday, as the RedHawks claimed the final spot at No. 20 after being swept at then-No. 7 Michigan. Miami has been ranked in the poll a total of nine times in 18 weeks.
The RedHawks (15-13-2, 11-11-2-1 CCHA) totaled 93 points, after earning 220 last week when they were No. 18, grabbing the final spot in the poll ahead of Colgate, who had 87 points. Miami is one of eight CCHA teams ranked in the poll, marking the most of any conference, while just in front of the 'Hawks is fellow CCHA member Northern Michigan at No. 19 with 108 points.
Boston University moved into the top spot with 930 points while earning 12 first-place votes after a win over then-No. 4 Merrimack. Minnesota remained at No. 2 despite receiving 22 first-place votes while Minnesota-Duluth, who was No. 1, fell to No. 3 after a weekend split, but still picked up 10 first-place votes. The Wolverines jumped three spots to No. 4 after its wins over Miami and earned four first-place votes. Boston College rounds out the top five.
CCHA foe Ferris State sits in sixth, picking up one first-place vote, while UMass-Lowell jumped two spots to No. 7 and also garnered a first-place vote. Merrimack dropped to No. 8 while CCHA rival Notre Dame, who the 'Hawks host in two weeks, is ninth and Colorado College moved up one place to No. 10.
Union College remained at No. 11 while Maine climbed three spots to No. 12 after sweeping Alabama-Huntsville, who comes to Oxford this weekend. Cornell is ranked 13th while Denver, who Miami beat earlier this year, dropped a place to No. 14 after a loss and tie to Colorado College. CCHA member Ohio State fell five spots to No. 15 as the Buckeyes were swept over the weekend.
North Dakota is No. 16 while the final four spots in the poll all belong to CCHA teams. Michigan State returned to the poll at No. 17 after sweeping the Buckeyes while Western Michigan slipped to 18th after a split with Alaska and NMU and Miami complete the poll. In other polls, the RedHawks are No. 17 in the Inside College Hockey (INCH) Power Rankings, dropping one spot from last week. Miami did not receive any votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll for the first time since Jan. 2. In the all-important PairWise Rankings, which helps determine NCAA Tournament berths, the 'Hawks are No. 18.
Miami hosts Alabama-Huntsville Friday and Saturday at Steve Cady Arena in a non-conference series.
