OXFORD, Ohio - Fans, here is your chance to own a piece of Miami Hockey history used by the RedHawks themselves, as the team is auctioning off two sets of game-worn jerseys. The jerseys that are up for auction are the RedHawks' commemorative Swoop's Stoop jerseys and the team's alternate home jerseys (third jerseys).
The one-game only Swoop's Stoop jerseys were worn last Saturday night, Feb. 11, against Alabama-Huntsville as part of Swoop's Stoop Night. The jerseys are white with red trim and have the Swoop's Stoop logo in the middle on the front with three block Ms at the bottom while the back says SWOOP'S STOOP on the name plate with the number below and three block Ms at the bottom.
The Swoop's Stoop jerseys are up for auction on www.MURedHawks.com. The jerseys went up for auction starting today (Sunday, Feb. 12) and will remain up for auction online through Feb. 22 with bids closing at 10 p.m. ET. A total of 25 jerseys are available for purchase and will be shipped at the conclusion of the season.
All proceeds from the jersey auction will go towards Swoop's Stoop, which is the foundation senior goalie Cody Reichard started heading into the 2010-11 season and benefits patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Swoop's Stoop brings sick children and their family to a Miami hockey home game while players visit the kids at the hospital once a month. Money raised goes towards blankets and t-shirts for the children, games and toys at the hospital and could help offset medical costs endured by the families of the patients.
Miami's alternate third jerseys, seen here on Tyler Biggs, are being auctioned off by Miami's Blue Line Club. |
The alternate home jerseys (third jerseys) are being auctioned off through the Miami Hockey Blue Line Club. The jerseys only worn during the 2011-12 season are worn on most home Saturday's and are white with red stripes on the sleeves and at the bottom, have solid red on the shoulders and have the RedHawk logo in the middle. The name plates on the back will be removed due to NCAA rules.
The alternate home jerseys will be auctioned off over two dates at Steve Cady Arena with half of them available one date and the other half the second date. On Saturday, Feb. 18 vs. Notre Dame, jersey numbers 2, 7, 10, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25 and 28 will be available for auction at the Blue Line Club booth on the east concourse of the arena. On Friday, Feb. 24 vs. Ohio State, jersey numbers 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 16, 18, 23, 26, 27, 30, 31, 32 and 44 will be auctioned off at the BLC booth in Steve Cady Arena. Bids can also be submitted online to mublcjerseyauction@gmail.com with final internet bids due at noon on the day of the auction. Fans can submit as many bids as they'd like on a jersey, but the Blue Line Club will submit only one, your highest bid. If a bid is submitted and you desire to lower or cancel your bid, the e-mail advising the BLC to do this must be received by noon on the day of the auction as well.
Proceeds of the alternate jersey auction will go to the Blue Line Club, which supports the Miami Hockey program. Jerseys will not be shipped until after the conclusion of the season. For more information on the auction, visit www.miamiblc.org or click here.
Fans can bid on as many jerseys as they would like in either auction.
