DAYTON, Ohio -- Miami made two costly errors in the early innings and never recovered in a 6-0 setback to Dayton at Time Warner Cable Stadium Tuesday afternoon. The loss snaps a six-game winning streak for the RedHawks (12-12).
The Flyers (11-13) broke out to a 2-0 lead after three innings by scoring a pair of unearned runs. In the second, back-to-back singles with one out put runners on th corners. A squeeze bunt attempt was misplayed by pitcher Shawn Marquardt, allowing the game's first run. In the next inning also started with two one-out singles. Marquardt picked off the runner at second for the second out, but a stolen base and wild pitch brought Zach Blanchette to third. C.J. Gillman's grounder to third then went through the legs of Cory Klenke, putting Dayton up 2-0.
