Miami Hockey Post Game Notes
With the 4-4 tie, Miami extended its unbeaten streak to six games. The RedHawks haven't lost since Oct. 28th against Lake Superior State.
Miami saw its streak of 27-straight successful penalty kills come to an end when Michael Fink tallied a power play goal for Bowling Green in the first period of play. The last time the RedHawks surrendered a power play goal was Oct. 27 in overtime against Lake Superior State, spanning six games.
Senior Alden Hirschfeld recorded his first multi-point game of the season. He now has 10 multi-point games in his career.
Freshman Austin Czarnik tallied a goal and an assist on the night. Czarnik now has three multi-point games on the season and leads all Miami freshmen with 10 points.
Senior Chris Wideman picked up two assists on the night. Wideman has 14 multi-point games in his career.
Senior goalie Cody Reichard started his sixth game in a row for the first time in his career. The last time a Miami goaltender started at least six games in a row was Jeff Zatkoff during the 2007-08 season.
The RedHawks gave up a season low 16 shots on the evening. Their previous season low was 21 shots surrendered against Bemidji State on Oct. 8th in a 3-2 Miami win and against Michigan on Nov. 11 in a 2-1 Miami win.
Freshman Tyler Biggs scored in the third period and has now tallied seven in seven of the last eight games for the Red and White.
Miami tied a season-high with four goals in the game. Miami scored four goals against BG on Nov. 18 in a 4-0 shutout win and against Colgate on Oct. 14 in a 4-3 win.
With the tie, Bowling Green snapped a five-game losing streak against CCHA teams.
Miami saw its 12-game winning streak against Bowling Green snapped with the tie. The last time Miami did not record a win against BG was a loss on Jan. 4, 2008 The RedHawks are 27-8-3-1 against the Falcons under head coach Enrico Blasi.
Miami recognized several hockey alumni during the first intermission. Bowling Green head coach Chris Bergeron ('93) and assistant coach Barry Schutte ('97) were also honored. Bergeron is a former Miami captain and assistant coach and Schutte is a former Miami arena manager and team captain.
