OXFORD, Ohio - After falling behind early, Miami recovered to shoot 62.5 percent in the second half and run away with a 76-57 win over Saginaw Valley State Tuesday night at Millett Hall. The RedHawks (4-5) used a late first-half run to take the lead for good as the Cardinals (3-3) failed to stop the trio of junior Julian Mavunga and seniors Nick Winbush and Antonio Ballard, who all scored in double figures.

Mavunga scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting and added six rebounds and three blocks. Winbush recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He also added three blocks. Ballard chipped in 11 points, including three from the free-throw line and eight inside the paint.

Saginaw Valley State jumped out to the early 9-2 lead, but a 9-0 run by the RedHawks put Miami up 11-9 with 13:46 to play in the first half. The teams traded the lead over the next nine minutes until a Ballard layup with 4:02 to go in the first sparked a 12-4 RedHawk run that sent the teams to halftime with Miami up, 33-27.

Over the first six and a half minutes of the second half, the RedHawks built a 15-point lead to take control of the game. Miami used a renewed effort on the defensive end in the second half, making six steals and scoring 10 points off turnovers in that half alone.

The other two Miami starters had notable games in addition to the frontcourt as freshman point guard Quinten Rollins had a career-high four steals and added three assists and sophomore Orlando Williams had a career-high four assists while grabbing five boards.

The RedHawks continue their two-game home stand when they face Troy on Saturday, December 11 at 4:30 p.m. as part of the Miami doubleheader with the women's basketball team. The women's tip-off is at 2 p.m.
