Miami vs. Troy Postgame Quotes

Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"Coming into this game tonight we knew they could play. Troy can get the ball to the basket and I knew we were going to have trouble containing them on the perimeter and they would be the fastest team we have played yet. It was a tough loss for those guys but a very well-coached game."

"I felt like this was a great game for our guys. In my mind if we would have lost it, I feel like we wouldn't have lost to a team that wasn't any good, I think we would have lost to a really good team. Since we won this game though, I feel like this is one of the biggest wins in two years. It made for one exciting Saturday afternoon game in the Midwest."

"Our guys found a rhythm and went with it. We had to do less coaching and our guys carried out all of the offensive orders. They got the ball down the floor, contained their dribbling, started to get aggressive, and got into a comfort zone. From this game, we learned we have to play hard."

Miami Senior Forward/Guard Antonio Ballard
On the win: "This win is something we needed as a team heading into finals next week; it will make us more relaxed and calm. We defiantly needed this win to head into our finals 5-5 and then get back at it."

On the fast pace of the game: "This game was up and down, up and down. They (Troy) are by far one of the fastest transition teams we have played all year. Troy came in here 1-6 and just knowing the teams they have played so far and watching them on tape, we kind of had an idea of just how fast they were going to b,e but they defiantly kept us on our toes."

Miami Sophomore Guard Orlando Williams
On the fast pace of the game: "I love this kind of game where both teams are just getting up and down the court, playing hard against one another. It just makes the time fly by and makes for a really great atmosphere to be in."

On working as a team: "I think we have been starting off sluggish, but as the game goes on we begin to pick up the pace and get everyone working together and involved. When we start to play as a team, we all get into the game and on the same page. We just have to step up to the plate and keep fighting. Everyone needs that little push."
