OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami survived a nine-minute second-half scoreless drought, losing an 11-point lead, but outscored Bowling Green 10-5 in overtime for a 50-45 victory over the Falcons Thursday night at Millett Hall.

Senior Michael Bramos led all scorers with 23 points, while Tyler Dierkers added 12 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the year. Nate Miller paced Bowling Green (17-12 overall) with 12 points and 16 boards, both team highs.

The RedHawks (17-11 overall) moved into a four-way tie for first place in the MAC East, equalling the Falcons, Akron and Buffalo with a 10-5 league mark. Miami travels to Buffalo on Sunday to play for at least a share of the conference title.

Miami started overtime on a 5-0 run with a basket by Antonio Ballard and a conventional three-point play by Adam Fletcher. But Bowling Green answered with a jumper and free throw by Miller to close back to within two, 45-43. Miller hit another layup with 21 seconds left closing a 46-43 Miami lead to one, but Bramos made four straight free throws in the final 17 seconds to clinch the victory.

"We were only after a victory and style points don't matter," Head Coach Charlie Coles said. "They were the hottest team in the MAC coming in and were 6-1 on the road. For us to beat them took a great defensive effort. We are very, very happy for our seniors."

The RedHawks had led 34-23 on a Bramos three with 10:55 remaining, but Bowling Green stormed back with 14 straight points for a 37-34 advantage by the 2:57 mark. Miami then used a 6-0 run, including four free throws by Bramos, to go up three with 8.5 seconds remaining.

But Scott Thomas hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime at 40-40.

In the first half, both teams struggled to score, each shooting less than 30 percent from the field. Miami held Bowling Green to just four points over the last 10:52, breaking a 13-13 tie with a 4-0 run to end the half. The 13 points tied for the sixth lowest in a half by Miami opponent.

Miami's five seniors totalled all by 11 of the team's 50 points. Only the five starters reached the scoring column.

Tip-off for the Miami-Buffalo game on Sunday in Western New York is set for 2 p.m.
