BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Despite a 10-2 run late in the second half to take a three-point lead with 4:36 left, Miami (8-12, 5-4 MAC) was unable to withstand Bowling Green's (16-4, 6-3 MAC) perimeter shooting and fell to the Falcons 64-61. Alex Shorts ignited Miami's spurt with six of his 12 points. Eugene Seals also notched 12 points for the RedHawks, who had five players score in double figures.
With Miami holding a 55-52 lead with 3:58 left, Keith McLeod hit a 3-pointer and then followed it with another at the 2:59 mark to put Bowling Green ahead.
Alex Shorts made four free throws to give Miami a 59-58 lead with 1:35 remaining.
McLeod was fouled with 1:21 left and hit both shots. Teammate Len Matela added two more free throws with 12 seconds left to expand the lead to 62-59.
After Doug Davis, who had 10 points, scored for Miami to cut the lead to one, McLeod was fouled with 3 seconds remaining and hit both shots.
Brandon Pardon added 10 points for the Falcons, who led 37-28 at the half.
Juby Johnson and Danny Horace each had 10 for Miami.
The RedHawks, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the opening half, took their first lead on a basket by Shorts with 5:43 left.
The Falcons were 18-of-25 at the line to Miami's 11-of-13.
