KENT, Ohio (AP) - Trevor Huffman scored 27 points in leading Kent State to its 11th straight victory, 73-57, over Miami in the Mid-American Conference.

The Golden Flashes became only the fifth MAC team to post 20-win seasons in four straight years. Kent coach Stan Heath became the sixth coach to lead his team to 20 wins in his first MAC season.

Kent (20-5, 13-1 MAC) made six of its first seven shots in a 15-2 run to open the game. Freshman center Nate Gerwig capped the run with a two-handed dunk with 14:42 remaining in the first half.

Larry Drake led Miami with a career-high 17 points, but scored just two points in the second half.

Miami (11-14, 8-5) cut the lead to 17-9 at the halfway through the first half on Chester Mason's layup. After Kent answered with Andrew Mitchell's driving layup 30 seconds later, the RedHawks never pulled within 10 points.

The Golden Flashes led 39-26 at the half, after shooting 56 percent. They ended up shooting 57 percent against the conference's No. 2 ranked defense.
