All three of our recruits are quality young men that have had success wherever they have played, said Blasi. Each one of the guys are very talented and will bring their own unique qualities and style to our team. Being our first class of recruits in my tenure, I think we've taken a positive step in continuing the rich hockey tradition here at Miami.
Edwardson, a 5-10, 165-pound right-handed forward, was the Danville Wings' second-leading scorer last year with 43 points. His 19 goals and 24 assists both rank in the top-15 all-time in team's history. In 13 games for the Wings this season, Edwardson has posted five goals and 11 assists. Currently, he is out of the lineup with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Derek is a fireplug that has a tremendous amount of skill, said Blasi. He plays very strong in front of the net and he is the type of player that doesn't back down from anyone.
An all-around player who sees time in all situations, Kompon is the fourth player from the Thunder Bay Flyers to attend Miami on scholarship and the first since former captain Ryan Brindley (1996-1999). The 5-10, 180-pound left-handed forward returned to Thunder Bay this year after posting 60 points (26g, 34a) with the Stratford Cullitons of the Mid-Western Jr. B Hockey League last season.
Mike is a forward that can create scoring opportunities on his own in front of the net, said Blasi. He has good vision and the capability to find the back of the net.
The 6-0, 190-lbs. Hogeboom is a strong, skilled forward from Etobicoke, Ontario. He comes to Oxford from the Wexford Raiders of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League where he is the team's third-leading scorer with 24 points (12g, 12a).
Greg is a big strong player that will give us some more size up front, said Blasi. He has a strong shot and gets around the ice very well. Knowing the alumni of the Wexford program as well as coaching there for a season, he should fit in well with our team.
