HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Troy Benko pitched a one-two-three inning in the top of the first to keep the game scoreless. In the top of the second, Ryan Novak led off with a single and moved to second base as Mason Breidenbach took an HBP. Raether walked to load the bases and Cruz walked to force in a run. Another two runs scored on an error and a sacrifice groundout by Dominic Krupinski to make it a 3-0 advantage for Miami.
- The Broncos scored one run in the bottom of the second after a bases-loaded sacrifice fly.
- The RedHawks extended their lead in the top of the fourth, an effort that started after a double by Tommy Harrison and a walk by Novak. Breidenbach doubled down the right-field line, scoring Harrison, and Raether singled up the middle to score two more. Cruz doubled to left center to drive in another run and stretch Miami's lead to 7-1.
- Benko had another three up, three down inning in both the bottom of the third and the bottom of the fourth to hold the lead.
- The Broncos scored their second run of the day in the fifth inning on a solo home run to right field. They struck again in the sixth, loading the bases with two singles and a walk before scoring three consecutive runs on a walk, HBP, and wild pitch to make it 7-5.
- Raether and Krupinski led off the seventh with back-to-back singles. A fielder's choice scored Raether and made it an 8-5 game. After a scoreless bottom of the inning, Novak reached first on an eight-pitch at bat to lead off the eighth. He scored after a double by Raether, who then came around on a Cruz double to give Miami a 10-5 lead.
- After a single and a walk, the Broncos hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to pull within two runs, 10-8. Two walks and a single loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth and a walk scored a run and put the tying run at third base. A fielder's choice tied the game, and, with two outs, the Broncos came up with a base hit to the outfield to win the game 11-10.
