HOW IT HAPPENED
- The RedHawks escaped a first-inning jam with an unassisted inning-ending double play by Diego Cruz. In the bottom of the first, Marcus Dierks, Evan Appelwick and Tommy Harrison each walked with no outs to load the bases. Gonzalez batted in two runs with a single to left-center, and Carson Raether hit a sac fly to stretch Miami's lead to 3-0.
- Ohio loaded the bases in the top of the third with three back-to-back singles. A walk scored the Bobcats' first run of the day, and another run came across on another single. The Bobcats tied the game 3-3 with a sac fly.
- The RedHawks scored eight runs in the bottom of the third. With two runners on and no outs, Jamie Rasmussen hit his second home run of the season. Cruz followed with a double, and Dierks hit an infield single to add another run. Appelwick reached on an error that scored Dierks, and Harrison drove in a run with a single. Miami's 10th and 11th runs were scored as Gonzalez doubled to left field and gave Miami an 11-3 advantage.
- Ohio scored two runs of their own in the fourth inning, putting up a walk and two RBI doubles. After a scoreless fifth, the Bobcats struck again in the sixth, scoring one run on two hits to make the score 11-6.
- The RedHawks put up six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 17-6 advantage. Cruz led off with a double, and Dominic Krupinski walked, setting up Appelwick for an RBI single. Harrison walked and Ryan Novak took an HBP to force in another run and keep the bases loaded. Gonzalez delivered a grand slam down the left field line to put an exclamation point on a 17-run outing for Miami.
- Alex Gay recorded the final three outs, including three strikeouts, to close out the seven-inning run-rule win.
