HOW IT HAPPENED
- 18:16 1st (Omaha 1-0) | Cameron Mitchell opened the scoring late in the first period after Slipec held the puck in the Mavericks' offensive zone and set up Mitchell in front of the Miami net.
- 6:15 2nd (Omaha 2-0) | The Mavericks made it 2-0 in the middle stanza on a power-play goal by Tyler Rollwagen. Jeremy Loranger gathered in a long Maxime Pellerin rebound and fired a shot from the top of the circle that Rollwagen re-directed and tipped home.
- 14:13 2nd (Miami 2-1) | Miami pulled within one later in the period, converting on the power play. Shaun McEwen sent a pass to Kocha Delic behind the net, and Delic relayed the puck out to Giampa. Giampa juked around a defender and quickly fired to trim the deficit to 2-1.
- 1:43 3rd (Miami 2-2) | Giampa came through again to even the score early in the third period, finding the back of the net in a 4-on-4 situation. The RedHawks held the puck in the offensive zone for nearly 30 seconds, interchanging passes and weaving around the outside boards. McEwen eventually collected a pass from Ryan Smith and sent it to Giampa, who once again eluded a defender with a beautiful move and scored to tie the game at 2-all.
- 4:24 3rd (Omaha 3-2) | Omaha went on top again less than three minutes later on a goal by Brett Hyland. The Mavericks forced a Miami turnover in the neutral zone and Samuel Huo sent a pass ahead to Hyland, who skated into the middle of the zone and gave the hosts a 3-2 lead. Guevin added an assist on the play.
- 7:39 3rd (Omaha 4-2) | The Mavericks restored their two-goal lead with a power-play tally by Guevin. Guevin buried a one-timer off assists from Loranger and Luke Woodworth to stretch the margin to 4-2.
- 19:23 3rd (Miami 4-3) | After multiple diving efforts by RedHawks to block shots and protect Miami's empty net, Nassen ripped a one-timer at the other end of the rink to get the visitors within 4-3 in the final minute. Nassen's extra-attacker goal came off a diagonal feed from Vladislav Lukashevich, with Delic also picking up an assist.
- 19:52 3rd (Omaha 5-3) | Miami's late comeback attempt fell just short, as Slipec sealed the outcome with an unassisted empty-net goal with eight seconds to play.
