CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The RedHawks fell to Southeast Missouri State Friday 14-10 after giving up six runs in the fifth inning. Evan Appelwick hit a home run during the contest. Miami falls to 7-2 with the loss while SEMO improves to 4-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

SEMO put up two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-0 lead.
Back-to-back homers put SEMO up 4-0 through three innings.
The RedHawks scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth to pull ahead 7-4. Ryan Novak, Tommy Harrison, Marcus Dierks, Hayden Christiansen, Ignacio Gonzalez, and Diego Cruz all had hits and Evan Appelwick hit a two-run home run.
The RedHawks scored two more in the fifth after hits from Dierks and Cruz.
SEMO scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to reclaim the lead 10-9.
SEMO took a 14-9 lead with four runs on three hits in the sixth inning.
Miami added one in the ninth via a double from Gonzalez.

MIAMI GAME NOTES:

Appelwick went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run.
Novak went 2-for-4 with a run.
Dierks went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Cruz went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run.
Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run.

UP NEXT:
The RedHawks will face SEMO in a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 28. Game one is set for 1 p.m.
