ON TAP: The Miami women's basketball team hosts Akron on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. inside Millett Hall. The RedHawks will honor three seniors prior to the start of the game: Amber Scalia, Ashton Elley and Clara Gonzalez Planella.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Amber Tretter has 28 double-doubles (third-best in program history) in her career and is a near walking double-double in points (14.6) and rebounds (8.2) this season. She is on pace to become just the second RedHawk in program history to record 1,000 career rebounds and has scored 1,055 career points, which ranks 26th in program history. She has scored in double figures in 23 of 28 games this season.
BALANCED SCORING: Miami has four players averaging double-digits, led by Amber Tretter (14.6 ppg.). She is joined by Amber Scalia (14.0 ppg.), Ilse de Vries (12.9 ppg.) and Tamar Singer (10.8 ppg.). Tretter has led the team in scoring eight times, while the other three have done it six time each this season.
SCALIA WATCH: Amber Scalia is sitting at 1,496 career points and 198 career three pointers. When she reaches 1,500 career points, Miami will be one of 34 schools nationally with an active 1,500-point scorer in men's (Peter Suder) and women's basketball.
BY THE MARGINS: Miami is currently third in the MAC in scoring (71.2) and first in defense (58.4), which results in a 12.8 point margin of victory, second-best in the conference. The RedHawks are second in the MAC in field goal percentage (45.0%), first in three-point percentage (35.0%) and second in free throw percentage (76.2%). EMU RECAP: Junior Amber Tretter, who was held scoreless the game prior, posted 25 points and 13 rebounds in a 78-60 win over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday evening. Miami led 48-25 at the half and cruised home for the victory. Amber Scalia added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Tamar Singer had 11 points, eight assists and six rebounds as the RedHawks made 11 three pointers in the win.
MAC MOMENTUM: Miami opened conference play at 11-0, the best start in program history before UMass downed the RedHawks 65-64 on Feb. 14. The loss also snapped a 13-game win streak, one shy of the all-time school record, set by the 1982-83 squad. The RedHawks are two wins (or one win and a Ball State loss) away from capturing their first MAC regular season championship since the 2007-08 season.

DE VRIES PLAYS OVERSEAS: This summer, sophomore Ilse de Vries represented the Netherlands as a member of the U20 National Team at the annual FIBA U20 EuroBasket League. In seven games, she averaged 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. This season de Vries is averaging career bests in points, rebounds and assists. She has already posted 18 double-digit scoring contests after just three in 2024-25 and was named MAC Player of the Week on Jan. 27. She also leads the MAC in blocks/game (1.8).
