RedHawks Host Ohio in the Battle of the Bricks Friday Night on ESPN

FRIDAY: Miami returns home to host Ohio in the Battle of the Bricks on Friday, Feb. 13 at 9 p.m. on ESPN. With No. 1 Arizona falling to Kansas on Monday night, Miami is the only remaining undefeated team in the country. The Red and White enter this Friday's game with a 24-0 (11-0 MAC) record, its best start to a season in program history. The RedHawks have also secured the best start for a program in MAC history (originally set by WMU in 1975-76 at 19-0) and the longest win streak in MAC history (originally set by Kent State in 2001-02 at 21-0).Â
ABOUT OHIO: Ohio is currently 13-12 (7-5 MAC), as the Bobcats most recently dropped to Old Dominion (72-78). Last season, Ohio went 16-16 (10-8 MAC). Head coach Jeff Boals is in his seventh season with the Bobcats. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Ohio was selected to finish fourth overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men's Basketball Poll.Â
Senior Jackson Paveletzke (16.6/game), senior Aidan Hadaway (14.2/game) and redshirt junior Javan Simmons (14.0/game) lead the Bobcats offense in points. Paveletzke has recorded the most assists (5.3/game) and Hadaway has totaled the most rebounds per game (7.5/game). Senior Ajay Sheldon leads the team in steals (1.6/game) and freshman JJ Kelly has put down the most blocks (0.9/game).
THE SERIES WITH THE BOBCATS: This Friday's home contest against the Bobcats will be the 217th meeting between the two programs. Miami trails in the series 120-96 all-time, as the Red and White are 65-40 when playing in Oxford against the Bobcats. Miami is currently on a one-game losing streak versus Ohio, as the RedHawks fell 66-75 at the Convocation Center on March 1, 2025.Â

RECENT ACTION: The Miami University men's basketball team rolled to a 90-74 win at Marshall in the MAC-SBC Challenge last Saturday. Eian Elmer led the RedHawks with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Peter Suder (17), Antwone Woolfolk (15), Luke Skaljac (12) and Almar Atlason (10) added double digits for Miami. The RedHawks extended the program record for most consecutive road wins in a season (10-0) and extended the longest winning streak in MAC history to 24 games. The Red and White shot 50% or better from the field (33-of-59) for the 18th time this season.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: With Miami's most recent home win against NIU (85-61), the RedHawks extended their home win streak to 28 games (most consecutive home wins in program history). Last season, Miami set a new record of 15 straight home wins over the course of one season. The RedHawks are currently tied with Akron (28) and Duke (28) for the longest home winning streak in the nation.
NATIONAL RANKINGS: Miami retained its No. 23 overall ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll on Monday, Feb. 9. The Red and White moved into the national rankings for the first time since Feb. 15, 1999 on Monday, Jan 19. The RedHawks are the first team from the MAC selected in the poll since the 2018-19 Buffalo Bulls. The Red and White also retained its highest ranking of the 2025-26 season on the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll, as Collegeinsider announced its newest poll on Monday as well, with the RedHawks ranked No. 2 overall.
