ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team puts its four-game win streak on the line with a Saturday, Jan. 10 trip to Akron. Opening tip is slated for 12 p.m.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Amber Tretter has 25 double-doubles (fourth-best in program history) in her career and is a near walking double-double in points (14.0) and rebounds (8.5) this season. She is also on pace to become just the second RedHawk in program history to record 1,000 career rebounds and has scored 857 career points, which ranks 36th in program history. She is coming off back-to-back 17-point efforts versus Toledo and UMass and has scored in double figures 51 times in her career.

BALANCED SCORING: Miami has four players averaging double-digits in scoring, led by Amber Tretter (14.0 ppg.). She is joined by Amber Scalia (13.2 ppg.), Ilse de Vries (11.3 ppg.) and Tamar Singer (11.1 ppg.).

RED HOT REDHAWKS: Since Nov. 29, the RedHawks have lost just one contest and have won seven of their last eight games, including four-straight.

BY THE MARGINS: Miami is currently fourth in the MAC in scoring (71.5) and second in defense (59.6), which results in a 11.9 point margin of victory, third-best in the conference. The RedHawks are second in the MAC in field goal percentage (.445) and first in three-pointers made (126), turnover margin (5.1) and assist/turnover margin (1.09).

UMASS RECAP: Miami used a 30-point second quarter (30-13 margin) and never looked back en route to a 72-60 win over UMass on Wednesday. Amber Tretter and Núria Jurjo scored 17 points apiece for the RedHawks and Tamar Singer had a game-high 11 assists. Miami connected on 12 three-pointers in the contest, which included eight in the second quarter.

MAC MOMENTUM: Miami's 3-0 start in MAC play is one of the best starts in program history. The last time Miami started 3-0 was back in 2011-12 when the RedHawks won their first four conference games. The best conference starts in program history include: 9-0 (1989-90), 5-0 (2001-02) and 5-0 (1988-89).

ABOUT AKRON: Akron is 3-12 on the year and 0-3 in conference play. Ni'rah Clark (10.9 ppg.) and Monique Mitchell (10.8 ppg.) lead the way offensively.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 67th meeting between the two programs, with the RedHawks holding a 42-24 series advantage. Miami has won three-straight against the Zips, including both from last season.

LONG RANGE BOMBERS: Miami ranks 39th nationally, connecting on 8.4 three-pointers per contest. The RedHawks have made double-digit three-pointers in six of 15 games this season, including 13 at Purdue, 12 against Marist, Coastal Carolina, WKU and UMass and 10 against Bellarmine. Eight different RedHawks are shooting at least 30% from distance and five RedHawks have already made 10+ three pointers this season (Macie Taylor has nine and Ashton Elley has eight).

SAY YES TO NON-CONFERENCE WINS: As the RedHawks are early into MAC play, Miami has already had one of its most successful non-conference seasons. The last time Miami won eight non-conference games before Jan. 1 was all the way back in 2018-19 when Miami captured nine wins before the calendar change.

20+ LEAGUE: Four different RedHawks have already scored 20-plus points this season and the RedHawks are 5-1 on the year when someone puts up a 20-point effort. Amber Tretter and Tamar Singer have done it twice and Amber Scalia and Ilse de Vries have also posted 20-plus points.

HOME SWEET HOME: The RedHawks are a perfect 6-0 at home this season and have out-scored their opponents 463-307 (26.0/game). Miami is shooting 37.7% from long range and are averaging 19.2 assists per game on its home court.

THINGS CHANGE QUICKLY: The RedHawks rank 57th nationally in assist/turnover ratio (1.09 per game). This season the RedHawks have 258 assists compared to 236 turnovers. Last season Miami had 409 assists and 534 turnovers and in Coach Box's first year the RedHawks posted 336 assists and 547 turnovers. Miami has had more assists than turnovers in nine of 14 contests this season and currently rank 34th nationally with 17.2 assists per contest.

TURNING INTO WINS: Miami ranks 43rd in the country in turnovers forced at 20.9 per game and are 7-2 this year when they force at least 20 turnovers in a contest. They also rank 48th nationally at 10.8 steals/contest.

NOTHING BUT NET: The RedHawks are only attempting 15.7 free throws per contest, but are making the most of their opportunities. Miami ranks 17th nationally at 77.9% from the foul line. Six different RedHawks shot at least 75% from the charity stripe.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has eight new players this season, which includes five transfers, two freshmen and a red-shirt freshman. Joining the RedHawks via the portal include Amber Scalia (St. Thomas), Clara Gonzalez Planella (Jacksonville State), Macie Taylor (Wright State), Ashton Elley (UAB), and Brooke Blumenfeld (NIU). Coach Box also added two freshmen (Mio Sakano and Anna Hurst) and Emily VanTimmeren, who technically joined the RedHawks last December, has yet to see action with the Red and White.

NEW, BUT NOT YOUNG: Despite eight new players on the roster, the RedHawks feature an experienced squad. Overall, the 12 players have combined to play in 628 games and make 316 starts. They have also combined to score in double figures 169 times.

SINGING HER PRAISES: Tamar Singer, one of the best freshman in the MAC a year ago, has taken her game to another level in 2025-26. Last season she averaged 6.3 points and 4.2 assists per game while running the point. This year she is averaging 11.1 points and 7.3 assists, which ranks eighth nationally. She has surpassed 20 points twice this season (none last year) and has led the team in scoring five times in 2025-26 (once all of last year).

PASSING RECORDS: Tamar Singer is threatening nearly every passing record in program history. The school recorded for assists in a game is 13 (Courtney Osborn and D'Nelle Seiple) ... Singer has twice posted 12 assists (IU-Southeast and WKU). Versus the Lady Toppers she has six assists before the first media time out (which has to be a school record). The school record for assists in a season is 175 (Jenna Schone) ... With no postseason play, Singer is on pace for 219 assists this season. The career record for assists is 596 (Heather Cusick)...Singer is on pace for 343 assists through her first two years of play.

DE VRIES PLAYS OVERSEAS: This summer, sophomore Ilse de Vries represented the Netherlands as a member of the U20 National Team at the annual FIBA U20 EuroBasket League. In seven games, she averaged 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. This season de Vries is averaging career bests in points, rebounds and assists. She has already posted nine double-digit scoring contests after just three in 2024-25.

107 AND COUNTING: Amber Scalia will be competing in her 107th career game on Saturday. Prior to joining the RedHawks, Scalia played in 91 games over three years at St. Thomas, where she scored 1,091 points and shot 34% from long distance. She has scored 1,303 points (12.3/game) in 106 career games.

WELCOME BACK: Prior to the Toledo game, Núria Jurjo had made just one of her last 18 shots. Over her past two games she has 30 points on 11-of-20 shooting overall and has made eight of 13 shots from behind the arc. She has raised her scoring average from 6.6 ppg. to 7.5 ppg. in a two-game span.

CHANDLER RETURNS: Head Coach Glenn Box may have a new assistant coach this year, but she is not new to the program. Maya Chandler, who played for the RedHawks last season, is in her first year as an assistant coach. Last season, Chandler averaged 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest.

REDHAWKS PICKED SEVENTH IN PRESEASON POLL: Miami was picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll, voted on by the league's 13 head coaches.
