Maya Chandler is in her second year as an assistant coach with the women's basketball program.
Things could not have gone much better for Chandler in her first year. The RedHawks not only won a school record 28 games, they also captured a MAC Regular Season and MAC Tournament Championship in 2025-26. Chandler and the RedHawks also competed in their first NCAA Tournament since 2008.
Â
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Chandler played for the RedHawks in 2024-25, posting 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She scored in double figures 18 times and had a career-high 26 points on Senior Day in a win over Northern Illinois.
Â
Before Miami, Chandler started 18 games at Southern Methodist University during the 2023-24 campaign and played three years at Loyola Chicago from 2020-2023. She was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year back in 2020-21.
Â
She has also spent time as a personal basketball trainer in Indianapolis, Ind., during the summer of 2022 and 2023 and volunteered at several foundations during her playing career, including time with Care for Real, Desert Rose Foundation and local basketball camps for young athletes.
Â
Chandler completed her economics degree from SMU in 2024.
