Miami Welcomes Western Michigan to Millett Hall Tuesday Night

TUESDAY: Miami stays home for a conference contest versus Western Michigan on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. The Red and White enter this game with a 15-0 record, its best start to a season in program history. Miami ranks among the top of the nation in numerous statistical categories heading into this game, which includes being first in the country in effective field goal percentage (0.634), first in field goal percentage (53.6), second in three-point percentage (42.8), fifth in threes per game (11.7), ninth in scoring offense (93.7), 10th in scoring margin (21.7), 13th in free throw percentage (78.3), 32nd in defensive rebounds per game (28.27), 38th in bench points per game (33.00), 40th in assists per game (17.7) and 45th in assist/turnover ratio (1.57).
ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN: Western Michigan is currently 6-8 (0-2 MAC), as the Broncos dropped to Toledo 84-79 last Tuesday night. Western Michigan went 12-20 (9-9 MAC) last year. Head coach Dwayne Stephens is in his fourth season with the Broncos. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Western Michigan was selected to finish 10th overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men's Basketball Poll.

RANKINGS: The Miami University men's basketball team received 22 votes in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll on Monday, Jan. 5. The Red and White retained its highest ranking of the 2025-26 season on the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll, as Collegeinsider announced that the RedHawks ranked No. 3 overall on Monday, Dec. 29. The RedHawks are just one of six teams that are still undefeated at the Division I level (Arizona, Iowa State, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska and Vanderbilt).
SILVER WAVES MEDIA MOST IMPACTFUL MID MAJOR ASSISTANT LIST: Silver Waves Media announced its 7th annual Mid Major Assistant Coaches and GM's lists on Monday afternoon, with Miami associate head coach Jonathan Holmes being named to the list. Holmes is currently in his fourth season with the RedHawks and his third year as an associate head coach.
RECENT ACTION: The RedHawks edged past Akron for a 76-73 win at Millett Hall on Saturday. Brant Byers poured in a game-high 26 points, and Eian Elmer followed closely behind with 19 points of his own. Luke Skaljac and Antwone Woolfolk also added 11 points each. Byers made 11-of-12 (91.67%) shots from the free-throw line (the most free throws made in a single game in his career). Peter Suder led all players with nine assists. The RedHawks made 25-of-30 (83.3%) shots from the foul line as a team. Miami recorded 15 points off turnovers.
